Hey folks,

Some of you may be familiar with the Hornet Autogain plugin that was discussed here a few weeks ago.  Great value for this type of tool.  Well, the same developer has a very nice channel strip plugin that's on sale TODAY ONLY for just 23.60 euros (about $31).  I've demoed it and it's really cool!  Includes flexible EQ, two versatile dynamics processors, filters, metering, saturation ... just about everything you'd need.  Hurry, this price won't last long.

Best feature of all, no copy protection!  :-)

I would like to hear a few reviews on that autogain plugin. I know some of you bought it.

I downloaded the channel strip demo and thought it was very nice especially for the low price - in fact I have been looking for something convenient like this - so I have purchased this - used it last night and have to say I found it very easy (a main prerequisite for me!!) to get what I wanted - the combination of 2 compressors and eq in one plug in is interesting but for me effective. I have to say I found the low cut filter on the eq good.
All in all, I think a very good product
Thanks again
Nigel

I bought both this and the autogain plug in and I have to say they're really great. The channel strip is really useful and it is one of those things you can use on almost every track of your mix. The eq can add little character, but mostly it does only what it should. It's a eq that works and all though I have other eq plug ins that I'll still use most of the time I don't need all their extra features and this eq works. The real genius of this plug in is having the eq with the 2 compressors together. The compressor sounds really good. On the site there is a comparison of it against the PSP 1176 that everyone raves about and I thought this more than held it's own. The 3 different modes all sound different and the beauty of this compressor is that you can't get the right sound out of one of them you can usually find it by switching to another. I often use 2 compressors together when I really need to do a lot of gain reduction, so this is really useful for that.

The only criticisms I have are I'd like the FET mode to have longer attack times and make your sales longer than 24 hours. I live in Japan and I was planning on buying the channel strip before, but by the time I finished work the sale had ended. I think a 2 or 3 day sale would be better. These plug ins are really good and the prices can't be beat, so I'd hate to see you lose potential costumers because they couldn't get to their computers fast enough.

You're in luck -- I just noticed that Hornet is having a sale for the next TWO days on all their plugins.  40% off their already low prices.

I'm not sure I understand the allure of "Channel Strips?"

It seems to be a combination of EQs and Compression and Limiters? And I have many good EQs? And Compressors? And Limiters?

**If you already have these? What's the use?

Convenience.  Sometimes it's nice to have everything in one box.  Of course, if you already have plugins that do what the strip does, and prefer working with those, more power to you.  For anyone who likes the idea of an all-in-one strip, Hornet's version is a good option, IMHO, particularly for the price.
