I would expect one of those dogs to face the other direction for identification purposes.

that's only the identificiation phase.   after that and some harmless "dominance dance" - that's when the real nose to nose selling starts...

they're ALL MINE, I tell you!!!  those other dogs don't know what they're pissing about!!!

Many years ago I worked with a guy that told me
he had a friend he had met while in the Navy and
that he was a very short man that had married a very tall lady.
He asked him how that worked out and his friend replied;
Well when we're nose to nose my toes are in it and when
we're toes to toes my nose is in it....then he would laugh like all get out...
I'd laugh because of him lauging..:)
