...the Realitone has built in scripted "rolls" and "variations" performed by a real player that recognize the most used chords in bluegrass (tho they need to add even more IMHO).  In other words you just play a chord on your controller and RealiBanjo plays a perfectly slurred and accented roll.  It's a wonder.

Agree with you 1000%.  The Realibanjo has six role paterns with key switching.  So it is easy to use several different patterns in a verse if needed.  You just hold down a chord and the pattern does the rolls for you.  My only complait is that there are only six patterns.  I hope the developer will expand this feature.  It also has different fret positions.  So playing on the fifth fret sounds different than playing the same notes from the open position.  Still it is a wonder to play, a joy to hear.

It is nobrainer for $29 if anyone is in the market for banjo samples--especially if you don't play a banjo.  I really like this product:  http://realitone.com/realibanjo

I only have the Kontakt player. The Realibanjo is really nice though.

PS:  And it still is just $29 semolians.

Don't you go fueling my GAS, now.

I have never once thought about using banjo in a song but I'm seriously thinking of buying that, if only on the strength of the animated doggy. What a great instrument. I played banjo years ago and kind of miss it.

Can I use the Realtone Banjo with the Kontakt free player?

I just checked RealiBanjo's FAQ and it says "nope".  Here is exactly what it says:

With RealiBanjo, you do need to own a full version of Kontakt 4 or Kontakt 5. This is different from the “free” Kontakt Player that you would use with certain sample libraries (such as Realivox) that are programmed to run on the Kontakt Player. So how can you be sure which one you have? The Kontakt Player says “Kontakt Player” right at the top. If that’s what your version says, then RealiBanjo won’t work.
Well . . . it will work, but just in what’s called “Demo Mode” for 15 minutes at a time. You can keep reloading every 15 minutes if you like, but that might get a little tedious.

There is a banjo sound in the Tts-1 GM player in Sonar Producer. It is fairly good. I have used it on occasion and it sat in the mix pretty good. It is fairly convincing when mixed low with several other instruments. As most samples, when played alone or soloed it loses something in the translation! LOL!

I got the version from Lyrical Distortion. I really need to buy Kontakt. I see so much great stuff there and can't use them.
