But I kept hearing how Cubase had the best MIDI capabilities and the thought of becoming a Cubaser did cross my mind from time to time.

The Midi stuff, great notation, Colours, handling of video [any where on the time line] are worth the investment of C7 [for me]
Have a good nose around the preferences, plenty going on. If you use notation, the zoom/page % sizes are there - had me stumped
for a while.
Having used Cakewalk for such a long time, I thought it might be hard work learning Cubase.
But with the tutorial videos you get, and of course good old Youtube videos - It did not take long to get into the groove.
Enjoy.

@ dmbaer - Speaking of getting into the groove - for those who have an all access pass at Groove3, I just watched the whole Cubase 7 - Tips & Tricks Vol. 1 today, so there's even more there to see & learn quickly from. I'll watch Vol. 2 tomorrow.

They even have a 30 day fee of $15 for all access now, if you don't want to pay for the full year.

I thought I get started & watch as my version of Q7 arrives in the next day or 2.

I also saw a large set HALion 4 videos there as well.

The groove 3 stuff is excellent. I've been using it over the past month too and its good value.

Yes, I've been watching Vol. 1 and quite enjoying it and learning much.  Do you know if we can get to the Steinberg-authored videos prior to getting Cubase installed?  OK, I admit I haven't done any research ... maybe it's obvious how to find them on youtube.

I hadn't noticed that Halion 4 videos were present, so thanks for the heads up on that.

Well an email has notified me that my copy of Q7 has arrived.

I'll officially pick it up tomorrow.

I do not see how this is, "a leap of faith."  Perhaps a, "change of daw."
