No sweat dmbaer!

Shame about the download and/or server slow poking on you.

I had no troubles or interruptions whatsoever with it, first & only time, but depends where you are and what ISP you have, I suppose.

Since this is your 6th try, consider using a download manager that some recommend.

Myself, I've never needed one. But it may also be the browser like Firefox or Chrome.

Also, you may be downloading from Germany's site, so being 9 hours ahead, perhaps try during the off hours, like really early in the AM hours, although that really shouldn't matter.

But just spit ballin' here.

Alternatively, what if I emailed or PM'd the downloads to you that I've saved?

Let me know if you want to try this. Maybe it'll work for ya!

Thanks, but I suspect the attachment would be too big for my inbox.  Actually, I've got what I wanted right away, which is the H5 documentation PDF ... some nice soul posted it for download.  I've got the H5 full install DVD images as a backup plan (just need to buy some double density DVDs).  I expect I'll hear from Steinberg in the next day or so and maybe they'll be able to sort this out.  But, like I said, thanks!

Ok, let me know if you change your mind - I think the update itself may not be all that big, but I can't remember now.

It installed quite quickly though - like in seconds flat.

Hey, Zo ... we're talking about an instrument here, Halion 5, a soft synth!  Certainly that's not too over the line, is it?

And besides, we're not exactly providing a glowing picture of Steinberg support, so it's not like we're rooting for the other team.

Finally got Halion 5 installed.  My impressions are largely favorable, but only because I didn't pay list price.  Had I done that, I don't think I'd be that satsified.

There are lots of sounds in this thing ... reportedly something like 2500.  Now, I haven't done a rigorous analysis, but it seems like half of them are arps or sequences.  Those Steiny sound designers do seem to like their arps, that's for sure!

I really like a lot of the sounds in the new module that does granular.  Gorgeous stuff (but again, way too many arps).  The new analog module is pretty run-of-the-mill, even though the factory content is well selected.  The Tron module is just that ... another Tron instrument.  If you've got Kontakt, get the Hollow Sun offering for something just as good (or better).  Possibly the greatest strength of Halion is the ability to layer sounds from various origins (granular, VA, etc.) to form composit sounds not readily possible with other synths.  But I haven't begun to explore that nor envision time to do so any time soon.

On the whole, I'm a pretty happy camper, having picked this up at a bargain price.  But I don't think it brings anything significantly new to the table that my 20 or so exisiting synths didn't already offer.
