Jim Roseberry (Studiocat) was kind enough to give me some advice, and now all is well. I don't usually let the DAW get anywhere near the internet, so there were quite a few Windows updates that hadn't been installed, but once they were downloaded and installed, up popped the XT-EQ gui.
