I know this should really be in hardware, but thought more people would see it here..

8 cores, 5 Ghz....this has DAW written all over it..

Might indeed make a great DAW CPU-wise, but not with that water cooler option. When I read up on the Corsair CPU Cooler there was a shocking little spec tucked away at the bottom of the feature list: fan noise over 37dBA. Isn't the whole point of liquid cooling to make the machine quiet

Speaking of quiet, I'd also question the video adapter choice. The card they're bundling looks like a gamer's card, designed for maximum video performance regardless of whether it hogs the PCIe bus or sounds like a jet. That thing's got two fans on it.

Of course you wouldn't buy "their" bundle, obviously geared to a gamer..

But you could certainly build your own around it and get acceptable results...IMHO..

Of course the $800 - $900 price tag for the CPU alone will be targeting primarily the enthusiasts that are willing to $pend it on having a $peedy $y$tem......and that's just the beginning.......the rest of the parts also need to be top of the line in keeping this beast running $mooth.

I'm just waiting for my lottery investments to start paying off, at which time a new DAW would be high on the wish list. In the meantime, it'll continue to be rinse, freeze and repeat.

Is a 4.7GHz processor overclocked to 5GHz a 5GHz processor or a 4.7GHz processor?

FYI Intel has been avoiding the 5GHz mark for years for the thermal and power hit not to mention the perceived race to higher clockspeeds.
I'll take the higher efficiency, smaller die sizes any day.

In this i7 4770k vs. AMD 9590 comparison test, it shows the power consumption differences (towards the bottom of the page).
