Found it...section 2.4 of the Pro-L manual:
Like the K-System meters described below, the normal output meter shows the RMS level and the peak level at the same time, but with a longer RMS integration time of 2000 ms.
When you switch to one of the K-meter modes, it presumably switches to the 600ms integration time as specified by Bob Katz.
