that a host can store and recall settings of an interface (such as the Eleven)
it is a feature that has great appeal to me.

I sure don't know what it takes to get that to work but I think it would be fantastic
if one could "tell" the host what unit - or the host could detect and communicate with
the units.

I not only see it being a great help during projects but also fantastic for revisiting older
projects. I can see that I wouldn't need so many notes and maybe just one noting what
guitar I used.

I can't recall another host feature that "wowed" me as much.

maybe sys-ex or patch change commands , write a patch with all the settings, save it to a location, then have your DAW send a program change back to the unit?

I thought mentioning a feature and refraining from using brand names would avoid complications.
I was wrong.

Pro Tools has a package offer; Pro Tools 10 with Eleven for $699.00 with a free upgrade to Pro Tools 11.

I was reading about it, watched videos about and called Sweetwater to get answers to some questions I had.

The feature that I like so much and didn't know about is that any settings on the Eleven used for recording with Pro Tools are saved in the project and can be recalled.

Please....the feature was my intent to mention and the thought that maybe it could be used by all hosts for many hardware selections was just a thought...a cool idea...a wish I had that...
I didn't want to post a link to the video showing it being demonstrated...but for guitarists it may be of interest....but maybe not. I don't know.

Here is a link. Videos under Tutorials. "Recording with part 1 &2"  is what I thought was a great feature.

The software equivalents will remember settings. Didn't know the Eleven did that. Pretty cool. Not enough to persuade me to buy PT but I agree it is a great feature.

Back in the days, I remember using StudioWare in Sonar to access and modify parameters on my POD which couldn't be accessed via hardware. I never tried saving those changes as part of the project though, but IIRC, the changes could be automated - therefore, you'd have to think that settings were saved.

What is the software equivalent of Eleven?...and the mention of a cool feature wasn't meant to persuade and new the aspect would creep in and reason for original intention to avoid "names".

I see it as a feature that users of Kempers, Axe and a cart full of others that guitarist could benefit from.
