Went to the Scuffham forum and read more about The Wayfarer; from what I read, it is based upon a Fender 50's/60's but with the option for more gain by its Lead 1 and Lead 2 switch.  
 
Can't wait to hear how it sounds.  Scuffham Amps may not have many models, but those they do have are fabulous. 

I have been checking S-Gear forums for a while, since purchasing the sim a couple of months ago.  I was following a thread that Mike started about developing this amp and was really looking forward to this release.  This is going to be like Christmas in Summer!  Since the first demo of S-Gear, I have and continue to be extremely impress with this amp sim.  The touch, feel and dynamics is incredible.  
 
The included presets are really good.  So good, that I have really not done much tweaking on my own, I can usually find a preset that is really close to what I am looking for.

I've had it for a while and I like it but the all important attack is mushy to my ears and it really needs a compressor.  I know I'm in the minority.

Are you referring to the new "Wayfarer" amp or to S-Gear2 in general.  I know that S-Gear does not have a compressor component in its rack; it does have delay, mod, reverb and the convolution IRs.  It might be worth asking the developer to consider adding a compressor to S-Gears rack as a option.  The developer has been open to a suggestion that I made in the past and replied kindly in an email; he wants his amp sim to shine; so it might be worth asking for a compressor.
 
Given that you have suggested the need for a compressor, I also would ask one more question:  If you were to add another vst compressor to your effects chain in Sonar's effects bin, would you put that compressor in the chain before S-Gear or after S-Gear?  Just wondering what kind of workaround you have found that helps clear up the mushiness.

I'm not referring to the Wayfarer.  I almost always put compressors before the amp.  For me the compressor just gives it the feel I like but doesn't help with the attack very much.  I did another A/B test tonight with S-Gear and the Zoom G3 and the clean sounds just have way more percussive bite in the beginning of the pick strike with he G3.  I can also get close to the attack I want with PodFarm and Guitar Rig 5 but not even close with S-Gear.

I'm not sure if i have ever been happier with a piece of software than I have been with S-Gear.
It sounds great no matter what I run through it. Be it a real guitar, software/sampled guitar or a James Tyler Variax.
I literally stopped using Pod Farm, Guitar Rig & Amplitube after purchasing Scuffham Amps. (I do still go back them every now and then for effects that are not included in S-Gear)
I can't wait to hear the new Wayfarer amp!
