There is a sale on for izotrope Trash 2 almost everywhere for $118 or $119 depending on where you shop.

I have Trash 2 and Ohmicide on my wish list of distortion plugins but - which do people prefer for distortion plugins?

maybe best is to have both but if I can only buy 1 right now which would be best to start with......or is then another alternative that I am unaware of?

any helpful advice?  Thanks.

I have Saturn and Trash II, you can't go wrong with Fab or Izotope.

I didn't know about FabFilter Saturn until now.  I checked the demo vid and read some online reviews.  it sounds a bit clean for a distortion plugin, maybe not the right word.  seems easy to use, the interface is straightforward enough.

I'll consider it but right now $164 is a bit much.  interested in trash 2 or Ohmicide as they are on deep sale prices right now.

Ohmicide - hands down the best distortion out there! Its creative posibillities are insane, and it's great for subtle to extreme distortion and everything in between. I abuse it on as much as I can. Had a play with Thrash 2 and to me it doesn't come close to Ohmicide. I own Saturn. Saturn is great but not as fun and flexible as Ohmicide. With the MIDI control on Ohmicide you can do some pretty wacky stuff

I prefer Trash 2 for usability, but Ohmicide for sound.  Another option to check out is FXpansion Maul - best of both worlds IMO.

Maul doesn't seem to get much love or reviews out there.  only available from FXpanson's web site.

I think I've still boiled it down to Trash 2 and Ohmicide.

thinking about getting Camel Phat 3 and Camel Space which seem to have some decent distortion although not the main focus of those plugins.

so many plugins so little time or money.

Camel Space is really cool but it is not a distortion plugin. It's a plugin for really weird stuff so if you're after a distortion effect, don't get the Camel Space - it's a trance gate with aswesome options

The Camel Phat has a distortion module but if you're after serious distortion, this is not for you. The Camel Phat distortion module is nice but is only built in for a bit of coloring, not serious distortion.

Having said that, get the plugs, by all means, I love them both and use them a lot and I couldn't do without them these days. However, if you buy them for the distortion, you'll be very disapointed

Actually, you should download this http://www.camelaudio.com/camelcrusher.php

It's free and based on the Camel Phat. It'll give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Phat and it is a highly usable plugin in itself
