Hey,

seems like there will be one of Waves shorter sales tomorrow. 50$ voucher here:

(and now I just wait for the obligatory anti-Waves comment from Bitflipper ;-))

I want to buy Waves S1 someday, but between the silly usb stick and the proud pricing I always decide to opt out.

It's hard to pay the singles price for S1 when you see the bundle prices, yet every time I look at the bundles I think, "wow that stuff is ancient and it's all been replaced by better stuff that is easier to buy and use"... and then I decide to walk away.

If you buy S1 in Native Power Pack you pay $30/per efx at full price.

S1 free standing is $150 at full price.

I keep looking at Power Pack... (or the bigger packages) and the only thing I see that I would use is S1, and maybe Desser.

I'm gonna snap some day and buy S1 single and avoid all that extra stuff but I'm not ready to pay full price minus the $50 discount for a 15 year old piece of dsp math. Maybe next year.

best regards,
mike

The thing with Waves older plugins is that they still work. I've seen it for $15.00 in the past which is a decent price for what it is.
In the meantime try this-

Q: What does S1 offer that Channel Tools doesn't?
A: Something called a "shuffler" effect.

Q: What is the "shuffler" effect?
A: Waves won't actually come out and say.

But I'll take a guess...there is a technique known as the Blumlein Shuffle (a ground-breaking technique only known about since the 1930's). Also known as spatial equalization, you can achieve it with a graphic equalizer plugin.

I get the impression that most people focus on stereo tools for making stuff seem wide.

I'm more interesting in the results they provide when you are simply trying to pan something.

Think I have all the waves stuff I need. I would like the SSL bundle but even the last month when it's been on sale the price is just.. Wrong.

The responsiveness and the gui for most of their plugs just feels ancient compared to Companies like FabFilter.
