Well I've got a boatload of those x86 and 64 bit Microsoft redistrib...thingys.  I tried uninstalling a duplicate 64 bit but it didn't change anything.  I'm kinda leery of uninstalling the whole lot and then reinstalling some new ones.  I'm a sissy.  Sigh.

Yorolpal,

Give the Cake Tech support a call and see if they will look at your dump files. (Sonar dump files... ;)

They can tell you if that is the possible issue and lead you through the process. The Waves guys really tried to help me out but they had no way of interpreting the dump file to make the diagnosis.

Really hope you get it sorted as I know how frustrating it can be.

Kind regards,
Rick

This is great news. The time I spent with waves they were looking for remnants of old installs. Nobody ever got to the C++ issue with me. I may end up with V9 64 bit waves yet.

Well Fellas, I feel like a gear slut!

When I first got the Waves coupon for $50.00, I ignored it, thinking, "I have enough plugins - in fact more than enough."

But, like any true junkie, I was drawn back & reading on here last night, and before you know it, lo & behold, I have now used the $50.00 coupon 7 - yup - count 'em - *7* times between last night & this morning.

The most I paid was 44.10 each for 2 or 3 Waves plugs, but it was like $26.xx and even $17.xx for some other Waves ones with the 2 discounts.

So basically I saved 7 x $50 = $350.00, and got some screamin' deals.

Got all my license codes already, so it's all good - except for the inevitable guilt trip of violating the 'use for one purchase only' clause that seemed all too easy to ignore.

I'm so ashamed - like street whore who has many Suitors - I'm now an official gear slut times 7!
I ought to keep my legs, uh, I mean wallet shut!

So that's it now! I'm done!

No more sales -

- until the next one

Great call on the reusable coupon wheeze. I picked up Aphex and Element. For some reason though I've had trouble getting Element to be recognized as a VSTi in Sonar. No amount of scanning would pick it up, and I also tried the Waves installer repair function. Eventually, I figured out that if I add the Waves folder (not the one that contains the Waves Shell DLL) to my path list, it will list "WaveShell-VST" in my VSTi list, and if I select that it loads Element. Have no idea what's going on there, and to be honest I'm not happy about having to get to it like this, but at least it works. Why is Waves stuff so damn complicated and problem-ridden when you install it.

It's not, it's a problem with Sonar and I went through the same thing with Element and One Knob series. Pro Tools, Studio One, Logic, Live, and VEP all recognize them without problem on my systems. Only Sonar makes it a PITA to recognize them.
