Think I have all the waves stuff I need. I would like the SSL bundle but even the last month when it's been on sale the price is just.. Wrong.
The responsiveness and the gui for most of their plugs just feels ancient compared to Companies like FabFilter.
S1 is a great tool for "psycho-acoustic" widening and skewing....it's a very handy tool...
Surprisingly, most of the stuff in the NPP are quite useful in the proper situation, even though they are "older" plugins...
The Waves API, SLL, and Neve, are probably the best "console" emulations out there...and the interfaces look just like what they
are....with X2 and VCC, you only get "very limited" functionality..while, with the Waves you get the Channel Strip EQ, and the Buss Compressors...
which makes a HUGE difference....and is REALLY what is required to "emulate" a console.
Granted, the "older" plugin interfaces could use an update, but they are still very good and useful plugins...
The "Renaissance" series is still widely used by the Pros...
While others may have really nice "GUI'S" I, personally, am not buying a GUI, I'm buying a "tool" and what get's me there
the BEST and EASIEST way....so, I guess that's a matter of preference...while an awesome GUI (like Sonar has) is great,
if it "lacks" what you "need" then it means nothing...it's just another "pretty face".
I, personally love my Waves plugins....and I find the S1 very very useful...but that's just me...
