I recently had my laptop upgraded to a 64 Bit Sony Vaio with Windows 7. This machine has heaps of grunt and I expected great things out of my UA-25EX run by Sonar 8.5 LE. Before this I had a lesser spec ACER running XP but this only dropped out occasionally while the new beast drops out all the time. Very frustrating. I have reinstalled the Driver. no good! Adjusted the Power settings as recommended ( havent adjusted the Buffer though).

Are there any Driver patches that will overcome this, is this a feature of the LE 8.5 (is it a toy and will I overcome this if I upgrade?) Or is there something else that I can do.

Thanks for that I set it up as per instructions for the ASIO Driver Mode but it dropped out even worse than what it was selected on before which was MME 32 Bit. I put it back to this setting and it improved but this doesn't seem right as it is a 64 Bit computer. Maybe I should try the WDM as an alternative.

I was trying to bounce a MIDI track to Audio and while the MIDI plays the controller in real time when I record it to Audio the recording is getting out of sync with the MIDI track. (thats when it actually gets through the track with out dropping out)

Unfortunately I don't have enough experience to know whether the interface is faulty, It is only three months old and while it did occasionally drop out with XP it never recorded slowly. ?

I have a Sony Vaio too that I just purchased and my UA-25ex is not working with it at all.  I can hear the sound for the first 20 seconds and then it just cuts out completely.  The driver doesn't appear to have an exclamation and says its operating fine.  I've been searching for awhile for the fix to this.  Does anyone have a recommendation?  I'd be very happy to get on with my music making.  It's been like a couple months now without a sound card that I can input my guitar and mic through.

Lots of luck with that. I have gone back to the acer with XP and everthing is working normally so at least I know that it is not the interface. Pretty dissapointing though.

Experiencing same exact issue. Worked fine with Windows 7 32 bit. Now that I upgraded to 64 it no longer works. Hear sound for about a minute then it just cuts out and the UA-25 no longer has power.

It seems like there are quite a few people who have problems with this interface. Is there anyone from Cakewalk reading this who can confirm there's a problem with this interface? Are you guys working on new drivers for this hardware? In case you are not, what interface do you people recommend us to use with Cakewalk Producer and Windows 7 64bit? Maybe we should switch to Pro Tools instead :-)

I have owned two of these units, one I just purchased last weekend and I have had no problems with X1 like you are describing with this unit or the one I owned 2 years ago on a completely different system and running Sonar 8.5. I am running Win 7 64 bit on an AMD Phenom 6 core with Sonar X1c Expanded.

So a few questions:

-are you running the lastest driver update and is it the 64 bit version?
-did you have a previous soundcard or a previous version of the Ua25ex driver installed?
-are you using a wireless mouse?
-have you tweaked Win 7 in any way?
-do you have antivirus on the computer?
-do you have the onboard sound switched off in BIOS and is the driver removed as well?
-have you tried installing the unit on another computer to see if this happens on another system?

Any one of these things can cause problems and ther are tons more reasons that this could be happening but you need to provide a bit more info and you need to make certain that the unit does the same thing on another computer.  That will be the only way to be certain that it is the unit and not the computer causing this problem.

One thing to try is using the WDM/KS. I have found flawless performance with this over the ASIO. I can get 2ms latency across 24 or so VST tacks and have no problems at 48/24.
