Interesting. Is it possible for the seller to contact CW and tell them they are selling the unit and want to transfer the license to you?

I'm not sure I follow? In regards to Hardware the VS-100 will work just fine without a serial (although I question why it would be removed).

The serial number is not required to install the driver, and you don't even need the serial number to install the Firmware update. Furthermore, the driver and Firmware can be downloaded without a serial number.

If you are talking about the Sonar VS Software, then I would not worry about that. It's a really dumbed down version of Sonar  8 and is very outdated. You would be better off buying a version of Sonar X1, even essentials.

Just going through my emails and found this from CW support. It's dated 6/7/2010 -- never addressed. Not even an offer to 'make it right' like giving me a coupon on my next purhase --nada.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for contacting Cakewalk Technical Support.

Unfortunately it appears that when overdubbing the previously recorded track will always begin playing from the beginning. I am able to reproduce this same behavior in-house with VS-100 units running the latest firmware.

Ultimately, the hardware should not ignore your marker selection when overdubbing and it looks as if this one slipped through the cracks. I have logged this issue with our development team for them to look into further in regards to updating this behavior in future updates for the VS-100 hardware.

I used your information (name, email address, serial number) so that you can track the status of this report. You can do this at http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/ProblemReporter/Default.aspx
