I understand there will be no development but if something does change, for example someone does buy Cakewalk from Gibson, then it would be nice to to be told. 

If anyone buys Cakewalk from Gibson then we will definitely be told. If any of the other theoretical possibilities happen, then we will be told.
 
Until then, we've already been told everything that we can be.
 
Please continue further discussion in the CH,  the Sonar forum is for Sonar support.  (No, discussion of the future of Cakewalk/Sonar doesn't count as support)

Given the number of people still discovering what has happened I have zero confidence that we will be proactively informed of any change in the situation. And personally I think that suggesting that this type of conversation is relegated to the coffee house shows a lack of respect for the rights of paying customers.

I really don't understand why it is so hard to provide a way of proactively updating people. Especially with Noel suggesting that users should keep faith in there being a positive outcome.

My thread got moved. Says it all. Ignore the customer. Bye bye Cakewalk its over.

The complaint is the lack of any proactive strategy to communicate what is happening which I think is unacceptable even if it is consistent with the failure to communicate so far.

I am not asking anyone to communicate anything immediately or to provide any restricted information. The request is simply that a method is established to communicate any relevant information when it is available and that interested parties are able to register to receive that information.

That this is considered a Coffee House item rather than a Sonar issue is a symptom of the problem.

Well, there is also the fact that threads like this have been posted and discussed ad infinitum over the last couple of months. What's happening is that people who have "just heard" about Cakewalk's closure are rushing to the forum and, without bothering to scroll down and see countless other discussions saying the same thing, are chomping at the bit to add their particular version of an almost identical rant which had been done to death. The Sonar forum was getting clogged up with these template rants and people making all kinds of self righteous demands from Cakewalk and Gibson. Something had to be done.

If you're serious, the sad an answer is "yes".  CW is now defunct.  :-(

I am dead serious. I was totally unaware. Just purchased SONAR a couple of months ago after being on a hiatus for more than 10 years. Have been with Sonar since version 1 until 6 and now just recently purchased it again (2017).
This really ruined my day...

It, indeed, has been a lunch in the gut.  A lot of people here felt like CW should have sent out an email to all users so that people like yourself wouldn't come here looking for help and discover the news. 
 
A sort of emerging consensus is that SONAR will continue to keep working for some time, so you can continue to use it, though no one knows for how long.  If you're inclined to switch DAWs there are a bunch of threads in the software forum that evaluate and compare what's available.

And the original post from Noel is still there (and stickied) along with 60 ish pages of rants for bedtime reading.
When there is something to announce, it will be announced...
 
In the mean time, the CH is the general discussion area and all such posts will continue to be moved here.

Noel jumped in on a thread a few days ago and reiterated what he had said earlier. Basically something is still happening. He isn't at liberty to say what it is. He did mention lawyers were involved. That says a lot. He also mentioned that these kinds of proceedings take time. Two months is very early to try to get something from anyone who is tied up in legal proceedings. It might take a year or more. Don't know if you've ever dealt with a lawyer. Nothing is ever fast. That word isn't in their vocabulary. Time is money and the more time they take they more money they make.
 
The fact that something is happening could be a good thing. If things had been really bad this forum would be here. They would have simply pulled the plug. It might be advantageous to hang around, visit periodically and wait to see what up. This is what I'm going to do.

That's good to know there might be something good coming out (if "something" can be negotiated). Either way, the worst case scenario is.....we already know what will eventually happen.
