Trying PT for the first time with the 1.5  Win. demo.
So far the pros: downloaded, installed & authorized in 30 minutes.
The cons: crashed in the first 10 minutes..

Why is it that I can get Pro Tools 11 for $699 or Eleven Rack with Pro Tools 11 for $699?

Yeah, what a nightmare that install was. The Ilok software had a hiccup and sent a lot of people to bed with corrupted files and no access to the software. I was pleasantly surprised this morning, after a few hours, my service ticket at ilok took me to the top of the list and they sent me the activations I needed. Crisis averted or let's say time to resolution was acceptable.

The first thing I was amazed with in PT 11 x64 was the increased overhead. A large project that ran around 28% of CPU resources is down to 12% in x64. I am missing all my plugins however and will have to wait for them to be released over the next 6 months as companies complete their AAX versions.

I think this version is a going to be a little rough around the edges for awhile but there were many more changes than I expected for the Native version. No problems with 3rd party hardware, that was my biggest concern. That front appears to be smooth however.

Be careful updating your iLok!! Lots of people are having their existing licenses disappear off their iLok!!! Many people have been stalled for over a week!! I suggest you wait till they get it figured out.

Well, not a week. If you put in a support ticket they are jumping on those first. So save yourself some stress. It took about 4 hours between entering the support ticket and resolution for me. I did lose the authorizations however as you say. They removed the old ones but would not allow entering the new ones. All resolved. But what a hassle which turned a 30 minute install into a day.
