Remember last week when I explicitly asked that you guys helped me stay off of Craigslist? Well - Where were you tonight? :P
I've found one of these Greco Custom Ace Frehley model for sale (not the one actually pictured here) - not that there's the slightest chance of me buying it but I've learned a few things...
Apparently, the late 70s early 80s Greco were actually pretty good guitars, in spite of what one might automatically think upon hearing the words "japanese copy". I had read that Frehley himself played them while touring Japan but, understandably, Gibson didn't want one of their endorsees to be seen w/ a Les Paul copy.
They seem to be selling for around $800 and up. And as far as I can tell from the pics and the reviews (which isn't much, I know), they indeed seem to be well made copies.
Fortunately for me, I'm absolutely happy w/ my little Epiphone LP traditional, so I'm thinking that my next guitar would have to be
the big Gibson LP, not just another copy.
That being said, who knows...
