And here I was thinking you thought it was good time to upgrade because your wife got a huge disability check for an on the job injury.

But I'm on Mac - so the OS is only $20 and my DAW software is only $200. ;)

RainSince my wife suffered an injury at work earlier last week and is off since, this seems like the proper time to do maintenance work and things like that...

Rain, I little piece of advice...

When your wife is at home sick and you're looking after her it's NOT called maintenance work...  (even if a bit of touching up is involved)

Hey Rain, first I'd like to add a +1 to the little wifey being ok.

What are you using as a recording desk?
Is that a few different pieces used together or one desk?
Also, monitor stands or part of the desk. I like the 'compact' setup unlike my 6'x8' L shaped room hog.

Thanks,
Mike

It's all "modular" to put it nicely. The main desk is just a regular black office desk, ordered from Amazon. It's very similar to one I've used previously and which I liked a lot. It has the keyboard shelf which is perfect for my midi keyboard.

The monitors are on a shelf. The desk had none, and I have absolutely no skills to build or modify anything properly - but two half-blocks of concrete and a shelf at home depot worked just fine for me...

I do use Auralex foam under the monitors.

When we moved in this house, we bought new furniture and ended up w/ a couple of extra night stands. I ended up using one then both as extensions for my desk, one on each side.

As I said I have zero carpentry skills, but ever since I was a kid, I've "created" what I needed buy recycling pieces and parts. This also allows me to constantly modify things to suit my needs. Wouldn't work in a commercial facility, but then, a commercial facility desk probably wouldn't work for me either...
