Still can't get the XP machine on the net tonight. It worked great a couple weeks ago so I'm pretty sure it's CenturyLink's servers and not the old laptop.

I went ahead and downloaded an old version of Firefox 3.6 and installed it next to Firefox 15 on my Win7 64x laptop.

I used the 32bit version of Firefox3.6 but all I got a javascript warning and and Actixe X component not loaded dialog.

Nothing on my current laptop will talk to the iLOk website.

I hope the old XP box gets on the net soon.

best regards,
mike

I have used Sentinel and Hasp dongles for non music software for years and there are many distributed through my company. To use a cliche "they just work" and are our prefered way of managing licences.

In principal I have nothing against dongles but iLok just seems to give so many issues I have always avoided it. Admittidly the Sentinals and Hasps don't hold multiple licences by many manufactures but it looks like iLok really need to get their act together. Needing to use a 32 bit browser in this day and age is **********

have you checked that on the laptop your not plugged into a USB3 port?

my desktop is win7 64bit w/ IE 10 and I had no problem with ilok2 , website, register nada.

BUT when plugged into a USB3 port nothing saw the ilok2.

I've said before that when iLok lost WAVES it was the beginning of the end. This would also explain why they have not updated their system.  They will soon be gone.

I've given up on iLok, written off my spending and put it down to experience and bad judgment!

I'll never again buy software that relies on hardware protection.

I have one VSTi, Halion Sonic, that uses Syncrosoft and seems to be trouble free but I will not buy any more.

I only have one machine with USB 3 and it's not on the internet.

I've just been using my regular USB 2 stuff.

Thanks.

I made the exception because I really like the Reverb that Michael Carnes of Exponential Audio is making.

He's a one man operation and the sound is world class. It just is. I don't say that often. I don't think I've ever said it about anything digital.

Mr. Carnes doesn't want to get ripped off.

It is so unfortunate that he has to make us suffer the inconvenience of this iLok crap but I can imagine how he would feel he has no choice.

Normally I would ignore the Exponential Product simply because it is iLok but it sounds so good, to my ears, that I decided to take a chance with the iLok.

The demonstration that iLok's website is not serviceable with a current Windows machine highlights my opinion that they are nothing but third party extortionists who expose the end user to the risk that they will not have access to the software licenses they have purchased.

It is a shame when buying a world class product leaves you feeling foolish.

I am going to contact Mr. Carnes and suggest that he reads this thread so he can get a better sense of who he is partnered up with.

Thanks for trying to help everyone.

best regards,
mike

I think you must be correct.

Their website seems stuck in a time warp and all the support info is clearly meant for a circumstance that is long gone.

"We're working on support for Firefox 4" doesn't sound contemporary when you are visiting the site with Firefox 15+

Just went through the iLok episode myself last night.  Started out in Chrome but iLok.com couldn't find my iLok dongle.  Went to Firefox with the same issue.  It took a while to realize what was causing this because all the messages tended to indicate something else.

Finally ended up in Internet Explorer and everything talked to each other and all was good.  Wish I could get that hour back though.

I tend to like the idea behing iLok because I want my software vendors to have protection and I would like to believe that, because I spent my hard earned dollars on legitimate software, I'm not in competition with a bunch of low lifes who have every plugin on the planet in warez form.
