I've downloaded it, I'll probably install it later today. I'm really not looking for another DAW, but, I've always been curious to at least try DP.

For anyone who's unhappy w/ the score editor in Sonar - or the lack of color customization options - I'm guessing DP could be potentially interesting.

Well I thought that Sonar was the slowest VST Scan in history...

DP 8 now has the title...WOW....taking forever..

Cubase is done in seconds...even the initial scan is super fast..

Sonar I can walk away, get a coffee, go to the bathroom, do some odds and ends,
come back and wait for another few minutes and it's done..

DP 8 is now scanning and going at a snails pace...slower then Sonar..

Even my MuLab, Mixcraft, and Harrison MixBuss can scan in seconds....

Cubase is definitely the Winner in speed of VST Scan...that much is for sure..

Yeah, I went ahead and installed it.

I don't have that many 3rd party plug-ins installed but it took forever. Waited for a while. Got bored. Went downstairs, prepared breakfast, came back up and ate my breakfast while watching it scan plugs... Finished my breakfast - still scanning.

Then finally created a new project...

I can figure out my way around pretty much anything rather quickly and usually, when I try new DAW software, I first seem to notice all the cool stuff.

My first impressions of DP - Man, I love Logic!

So far I'm not to keen on the interface..that will take some getting used to...

It's laid out ok..just different...

I haven't met a DAW I couldn't get the gist of in a few hours...so we'll see...

Had to add some of my other VST Folders and now rescanning...and again, taking
till the cows come home and then some...

I think what I find interesting is there are no demo projects....
that's always my first point of reference...I check them out and remix
them to see what I can come up with...and get a feel for the program...

One of the biggest surprises for me was Mixcraft Pro Studio...that program,
for a buck and a half is a butt stomper...if they go 64 bit in V7 then they're
gonna be doing some serious hoo haa....and hoping that MixBuss adds VSTi
support and goes 64 bit...

Sonar is still home...but there is some impressive competition coming up...
BitWig is coming out, OhmStudio, etc...

The competition is heating up...hopefully we are the winners...
Wish I had a Mac to give Logic a whirl...that's why I was stoked
about DP for Windows...finally get to kick the tires and take it for
a spin...

Some things I didn't like..

It didn't ask where to install it...don't like that..
VST Scan is a two phase process...both take forever...

   1) scanning the VST's
   2) gathering info on the VST's

That's a pain...

If it increases stability it may not be a bad thing...just annoying...we shall see..

My second impression of DP - Man, I really love Logic and I have many reasons to love it that much. lol

In fact, I have yet to find one think that will make me go: wow, that's cool! in DP.

Even just the way it draws itself onscreen when launched...

I've been wanting to try DP for like 10 years now... Let's just say it fell way below my anticipations.
