I'm using MC5 on a 2.80GHz Pentium D computer with 3gig of ram and 1 terrabyte hard drive, I haven't had this problem till recently. The audio slows down in playback and the metronome also slows in both playback and recording. I'm not talking a little bit of slow down, it's a lot and it distorts the sound of the playback. It seems to have recorded the tracks fine (I was able to play them back without issue in Audacity). I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling MC5 but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and if there is an easier fix.

Weird. Could it be that your Playback timing master and Record timing master (different soundcards?) are different and using different sample rate (I don't know if it's even possible)??? That would also mean you use two soundcards which is not good. Some info about your soundcard, drivers and settings would be useful.

what is the sound card and driver? 


AND.....   are you using a USB mic?

I'm using an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB interface for all audio. Inputs go through a mixer then the interface. Outputs go through the interface to monitor speakers. Internal soundcard is disabled.

Ok. But what about the driver mode? What mixer is it? Does it have an integrated audio interface? What kind of audio - guitar, microphone?? Is the sample rate set the same in soundcard and MC5?

  Mixer is a Yamaha MG102c. It has no settings in the computer. Driver mode is MME (32 bit) Sample rate is 48000. I disabled the internal sound card since I don't use it. I'm recording normal acoustic guitars through the Yamaha mixer and M-audio interface. Latency on the interface is set to 256. I have changed nothing in any of the settings since the last time it worked. I'm beginning to suspect that my best option at this point is to uninstall and reinstall MC5.

MME is the most ineffective and old fashioned driver. It's usually not sufficient for fluent DAW work. Most likely it's the source of the problems. Get fresh ASIO driver for your M-Audio and check that both M-Audio and MC5 are set to 48 kHz sampling rate.

If the ASIO doesn't work, try WDM.

I am having a similar problem.  The tempo of one of my project drops from 125 to 120 for a few seconds then returns to 125. I cannot figure out why.  Thus only occurs twice in the project. Occurs on no other project. No other problems with MC6. Resetting the tempo has no effect. It does this at the same time markers every time. 

Click Views>Tempo and see if there is a tempo change. Delete it if there is.

it does it at the same TIME MARKERS every time?   sounds like you put a tempo change in either intentionally or accidentally. remove them.
