With XP and MC 5, everything should run smoothly, but seeing that you have MC 5 LE, some features/processes/effects were not included with the LE versions even though the Help files weren't changed to reflect that. I can't imagine why the Process menu doesn't work, though.
For what it's worth, I just tried to Process>Remove DC Offset in SONAR Home Studio 6 (I don't have any version of MC on this computer; I'll try it on my DAW computer later) and it worked as described.
Anyway, are the waveforms shifted in the track reqiring the need for removing the DC Offset?
You're the first person who's mentioned it that I know of.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that you have to select a clip/track (it will turn dark when selected) to use the Process commands.
Day 2 of hostage crisis: I did mention I "highlighted" it which I assume is the same as "selecting" it (the sample track I would like to correct dc offset for, that is) ... click the track icon, upper left of track to select it ... right?

side note: Do you work for cake 57Gregy? I assume I am in the right place, correct? No disrespect intended to anyone here personally but if this is the best this company has for support, I assume they are going out of business or will be. Again no disrespect meant for anyone offering help here. I will bite my figurative tongue for now! and wait. I do appreciate these attempts at help regardless. My disappointment is NOT for anything or anyone except who would be responsible for such an ill conceived product. Thank you.

we see it all here and get accused of being employees of the Bakers and stooges and all sorts of things. No, none of us work for Cake. We buy the products just like you do with our hard earned cash.

Cake doesn't generally offer phone support on MC but I believe they do on the Sonar DAW.

Just because you have not figured something out yet does not qualify the cake line of products as defective or inferior or ill-conceived. You may be disappointed that something isn't working but that is very likely from you not understanding what or how to do something, not from the product.

MC & Sonar are both well designed and well thought out DAW platforms. With the right hardware and some time to learn them, they perform exceedingly well.

If you have questions we are more than happy to try to assist you in solving them and finding answers.  We are users, and I personally understand the complexity and enormity of the task of getting started with the cake products..... It is because of the fact that cakewalk will allow you to do so much that there is a learning curve to overcome at the beginning.

So.... ask questions, knowing that we are simply users who like (or love*) this product and want to assist others to get started on the right path.

* I love it.

1) we don't work for cake (as Greg & Herb have already said)

2) this is NOT support, this is a PEER FORUM - if you don't know the difference you need to look it up.  if you want support, then go here:
http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/default.aspx (also accessible by clicking the SUPPORT button at the top of this and all other pages of the forum)

3) your inability to access PROCESS>FX is very likely due to the fact that you are using MC5 LE, not the full version.  you cannot expect a company to allow full features on an LE version that came free with a microhpone.  if you want the full feature version, then pay for it.  it's a $40 download.  (reference:  http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2628619  where you say you're using MC LE)

4) you still haven't answered us as to why you need DC offset to begin with.  I guess if you're sure you need it then there's no need to answer us and we should just assume you know what you're doing, but we're curious why you need it when the 3 of us who've answered your questions and rants have never had to use it in all of our experience (which is several years each).

Thanks 57Gregy, Yes, "not included", to say the least!

Yes, the waveform is offset requiring DC offset correction. This being the mic sold with the software.

we know they sell the USB mics and bundle the LE versions of cake with them.

This has been discussed and since we are not cake senior management, we can not do much about that policy. It is what it is.

What we can do however, is inform you that while the software is GOOD stuff, you do however, have a version that is less than a demo version with many features disabled, and the mic you bought is NOT a good mic to use to record in Cakewalk.  Period!

Take what you want from that tidbit. Get mad at cake or us... it won't change my day not a bit.  If however, you want to do this right.... we can help you get there, and no, we do not even get kickbacks from any of the manufacturers whose products we recommend.

Your choice.
