The 80's definitely were a hot bed for different styles though this made it tough for me...  I was in a band playing rock, was a DJ from '80 to '83 and had to play disco, and I liked New Wave and Progressive!

My friend pools didn't overlap much.

Sound like the 90s for me.

I was studying classical guitar, fronting a metal band and playing gigs with a bunch of old beatniks because, well, they had the gigs (and there was so much to learn from them). All I listened to was The Beatles and pre-The Wall Pink Floyd.

My metal bandmates were puzzled by my Beatles t-shirt, my traditional jazz bandmates were 3 times my age, and my classical guitar teacher - well, she was actually pretty cool, she helped me figure out Randy Rhoads solos. :P

That's when I figured I needed to spice it up a bit and started DJ-ing and getting into old new wave and electro and then industrial. The 90s were cool, I guess. :P

I keep running into the same statement lately (I always read lots of motivation material - investing in me type stuff).  It says: "Whenever you find a subject to be unmotivating for you, do some research into it and you'll soon find yourself interested."

I can definitely think of a few subjects lately where that applies!

It's a shame the videos are so poor as it looks like they might actually be pretty good. Hopefully someone will do a better job of capturing this show.
The RN URL doesn't work BTW.

Yes i agree the video is not great.  The entire September gig, however, is being professionally recorded.  23 tracks straight off.  The sound and stage will be amazing

I was just thinking of many other tribute bands I know that do the same thing:

Boston
Styx
Yes
Genesis
Kansas
Journey
AC/DC
Etc.

(I was considering making a Flock of Seagulls tribute band, but I didn't have the hair for it. )

Haha i'm sure you could find a wig
The 80's was such a good era for new music

Heck, I had to use a wig just to get good 80's-like metal pictures (the below was a gag to scare my Mom when she was coming over for a visit), I've got no less than four fake body piercings on as well - lol:

Nice craigb (ityrn)

But where's the picture with the wig?

I guess the body piercings are hidden by the guitar...
