A friend of mine in high school worked weekend nights at a tiny, underpowered radio station as a DJ.  Many college radio stations transmit a more powerful signal.  Anyway, I would sometimes go to the station and keep him company for the last couple of hours of his shift.  After he shut down the gear (the station went off the air at midnight), we would go to a nearby Perkins (24 hour diner) and hang out.  We'd order coffee and drink a couple of pots.  We almost never ordered anything else because we were broke.

That's how I started drinking coffee.  I never liked watering it down with sugar, cream or other non-essential flavors.  I'm not a coffee snob, though.  I'll drink different dark and medium roast coffees.  I can't stand flavored coffees (hazelnut, bamboo/ginsing/kelp, ketchup, etc.).  That being said, I read recently about a coffee flavor that I would try.  Maple Becan Coffee.  http://www.baconfreak.com/boss-hog-maple-bacon-coffee-coffee.html

lol your avatar changed in between the time I was reading and writing mine. :-)

...

I was gonna state that ... his avatar looked like the ugliest cup of coffee I have ever seen! Might help in the music department, though!

I used to be a tea drinker (brewed with loose leaf tea/boiled water etc...) with half & half + sugar and now drink coffee with the same condements. My wife prefers coffee and it was too much of a hassel to make both in the morning.......so, if you can't fight em.........make coffee? :)

I used to buy the finely ground coffee (dark roast) and now have been buying the beans.........but, itlooks like I might be heading towards a popcorn popper soon.

Nothing like a good cup of Java in the AM. I always seem to hum this song when coffee is the subject matter........quite fitting too.

I generally like a splash of half and half..... and stevia for sweetener. I stopped using the flavored creamers when I saw they did not contain cream, just chemicals and trans fat.

A good cup of coffee will stand on it's own and not need creamer or sweetener to make it drinkable.  I had some the other night at a friends house after dinner...... black.... and it was good.

I guess I am a coffee addict. I haven't went to intravenous injections yet but I'm close. I love the stuff. I have a really big cup in the morning, sometimes another at around 9am and then I might have yet another in the evening so I can work longer. Usually the result is I stay up longer but nothing extra happens. I almost love the smell of coffee as much as drinking it, especially the dark organic coffees. I sometimes grind my own...didn't know you could actually roast your own.
A little half and half in there and I'm good to go.

Probably the best cup of coffee I had recently was at a friends house who is in the restaurant business. He had tried several of those Keurigs and decided he didn't like them so he went to a larger contraption made by Bosch. I was so excited about that cup of coffee I went home and researched the machine he had thinking I might get one. Only one small problem. That coffee machine was 3000 dollars...he must have picked one up for less being in the biz. I guess I'll pass on the Bosch for now.

My friends and daughter have the Keurigs gizmo..... I simply have a small coffee maker and tend to make it on the strong side of things.

I'd love to have some of that civit coffee.... the kind that is eaten by an animal of some sort and then some poor fool has to go pick the beans out of the poop..... I hear it's the best in the world...expensive ....... but ..... hey, I'm game.... I've eaten worse in my time.

I had a grinder to do fresh coffee, but that was commandeered by my daughter in Lynchburg when she got married.....

The smell of fresh coffee in the morning....mmmmm.

Another smell I used to love was my Grandfathers pipe tobacco.  I have never been a smoker, much less a pipe smoker, but I used to just love the smell of the freshly opened pouch.  Funny, as an early driver in my 20's, I once got the idea of buying the pouch of tobacco and slightly opening the package, leaving it in the car as a freshener.  Weird, I know, but the car smelled so good.

Back in the day, gasoline used to smell great too.  Now, with all the additives and what not, it doesn't...

An ex-tenant gave me two unmarked packages of restaurant coffee (which I later learned was Boyd's) which tasted pretty darn good.  Now, going back to my old standby of Folger's French Vanilla, I have the desire to switch to stronger unflavored choices.

EVERYTHING I've tried at Walmart that's labeled "Great Value" (their store brand) has been equal to and, often, better than what I used to buy so I think I might give their coffee a try.  Unfortunately, I like coffee so it can get expensive!
