What a treat. You just add it to the track and voila! bigger, better bass tracks. I put it on one of the demo songs and was really surprised by the quality.

What other instruments can I try it on?

And ya, at $49 it's worth it. $200, not so much for a weekend warrior.

Yup...it's a little marvel.  And the price (right now) is definitely right.

Hey John,

We use to drive through Hamilton on our way to Brantford, Ontario to see family when I was a teen.

So, is that the Waves Bass Rider you're talking about?

What does it do? Is the idea that the gets bass locked at some particular RMS with AGC?

Does it know when to quiet down for the quiet parts?

Mike, if you look too closely you'll jinx the mojo. Just trust that Waves has advanced computer science and AI to the next level by discovering and encoding the elusive Talent Algorithm. And because they're primarily a charitable organization seeking to advance all mankind, they're not using this discovery to make lucrative platinum records themselves, but are instead willing to share the secret for $49 a pop.

Does it help sampled basses?

So far it's made a positive difference on every kind of bass I've tried it on. This includes uprights, slapped, plucked, picked, fingered and various synth basses. All my basses are "sampled"...I use Trilian and several other programs and libraries.  It's improved every track I've put it on. And the range and sensitivity controls are easy to use. Remember, it's NOT a compressor tho so don't expect it to be. Use one along side it. I also use a low cut filter before it in the chain. HTH.
