Welp, they're finally releasing plugins that aren't sold by other companies again.  The Shadow Hills compressor was a good start and now, with version 7, the new Ocean Way Studios plugin.  It's like having access to all of Ocean Ways rooms and mics using your own or Allen Sides placement and blends.  Looks VERY interesting but, natch, is expensive ($350...with UAD customers getting a $50 coupon discount).  I haven't bought a UAD plug since the EMT250...which I dearly love.  Quite frankly, until the Shadow Hills I'd sort of given up on them.  Might have to check out the Ocean Way tho.  We'll see.

Thanks for the heads up - as you say pricey!
I had some stability issues with one of the software version releases,  so went back to the working version I had been using  - I'm not near my Computer at the moment so can't remember what version I am using at the moment.
Have you been updating regularly and if so, have they overcome the stability problems? - I do love my UAD stuff but a bit like yourself, due to the releases of plug ins that were not really of interest to me coupled with some software buggets, I have not been using my UAD stuff as much of late.
Would be really good if the platform was stable once more - however I'm still not sure I'm going to spend $300 on one plug in - does seem expensive.
Cheers
Nigel

I see Sweetwater has 24 month financing on UAD stuff and I can buy the OCTO (8 processors) custom  for 1899 that is SUPPOSED to include three free plug ins of your choice???

"PCIe DSP Card with 8 x SHARC 21469 Floating-point Coprocessors Chips, the Analog Classics UAD-powered Plug-in Bundle, and Your Pick of 3 x UAD-powered Plug-ins - VST, AU, RTAS (Mac/PC)"

I cant see them letting me pick, say the, ocean way, the studer, and the manley over $1000 worth of plugs, can you?

If Sweetwater could sell you the plugins I'd probably already have it...my Sweetwater card is near zero right now.  Good thing they don't;-)

Wow, that is a slamming good deal! Get three of UA's premium $349 plug-ins and it is like getting the UAD-2 OCTO for about $852 bucks (less the cost of the bonus plug-ins). I remember getting a UAD-1e card back in 2006 and it cost $525 from jrrshop. If you extrapulate that in dollar to DSP to what you get today with the current OCTO promo, the processing increase is phenomenal. For a few hundred more than I paid in 2006, you get 24 times the processing power. I would jump on it, but I already have a UAD-2 QUAD, SOLO, Apollo QUAD (total of 9 SHARC DSP's) and most of the UAD plug-ins already. In fact, I actually have more DSP than I know what to do with!

UAD-2 OCTO = 24 UAD-1 cards

Except that you are paying $852 for processing that any modern CPU that most people already have could do with ease.

Just curious but has anyone else tried to listen to the soundcloud demos of Ocean Way.  The only thing they'll play on for me is my iPad.  None of my desktops or laptop will play them.  In fact that don't do a thing when I click on them.

Hi UAD users!!
As per my previous post, I am using UAD 6.4.011, which is reasonably stable.
Have people who have upgraded to latest version of the software had any problems, or have UAD got over the stability issues now??
Thanks
Nigel

I'm using 6.5.2 64-bit on Windows 7 x64 and have no issues.  I'm a little bit afraid to upgrade to 7.0 because some are having problems on the UAD forum, but I haven't done enough research to decide for sure.  Can't really afford any new plugins anyway so I'll probably stick with what's working for me at this point.
