Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my phone either this week or next so...

For those that have the newer stuff, are there any good reasons to go to a Windows phone or should I stick with Android and just get the latest and greatest?

TIA!

I have a Windows phone and really only use it for it's actual purpose....to make calls. I've never had an Android (although that was my 2nd choice) so I can't really compare them, but find the Win phone to be fairly easy to work with. The other thing I regularly use on the phone for is GPS and find it to be very helpful/easy and accurate. I really don't have any complaints about it as I'm just a casual user and don't walk around staring at my phone 24/7 as some these power users do.

I suppose it may come down to what features/apps you really want.....roight?

I got an Windows phone from my employer last year. I'm still not comfortable with the whole smart phone concept.
I found the learning curve quite high.

Then my better half got a Samsung -  I think it's Android, isn't it? IMO its operating system is simply terrible compared to windows, just terrible. The simplest tasks require a session.

Linear Phase
I have a windows phone and I like it.  I basically switched from the iPhone.  Thing is, "apple hasn't been the same since Steve Jobs' death.  Android I would never own, as I simply can not stand anything google.

Yes:  Windows phone doesn't have, "an app for everything."  It sure does have an app for most things.

Yes:  Microsoft is charging a high license fee, and Windows phone is always going to be a manufacturers second choice to using a free Android.

Do I like my Windows phone better than the iPhone 4 I used to have?  Its hard to say.  I certainly like my Nokia Lumia better than the iPhone, but I thought IOS 4 was a great operating system.  However, as soon as IOS 5 and especially IOS 6 came out, I begin to like the operating system less and less.

My Nokia Lumia is more durable than the iPhone.  The Nokia is hard, hi-tech polymer; it doesn't scratch, it doesn't seem to be breakable.  The Nokia has a bigger screen, better camera, and better graphics.  The Nokia is also way faster, and has a lot less bloat-ware.

Before my iPhone I had a blackberry, and it was great.  It was, "my first smartphone," and it was state of the art back then.  Before the blackberry I had about 8 - 10 years worth of samsung flip phones; I know samsung very well, and I wouldn't by any more phones from them.  I only mention this, as samsung is the biggest seller of android smartphones, and really with both samsung and google, "i wouldn't be caught dead."

If I had to choose between the two I would go for the android phone. I am an iphone user and I'm pretty happy with it. It's mainly my carrier and their fee structure I'm not happy with.

There are different versions of android. Some are better than others. I would look at what OS the phone is using and see if the version has had any problems.

Windows is still a little bit behind the ball on getting their small devices up to par. Not necessarily with stability, but more to do with UI as compared to the others. I think they will eventually command the market or at least become a stronger contender. If you liked windows 8 you might not have a problem with a win phone.
