Thanks Bit!  I think this will really help me in my new startup career as a pirate. I've already got the keyboard for it and am looking for a first mate...

Those were pretty cool.

But it reminded me that I used to have a stash of a bunch of cool maps that came inside of National Geographic magazines from when I was a kid. So now I'm wondering what happened to them and if I actually have them buried around here somewhere.

I didn't look at National Geographic (or NatGeo as they call themselves now) for the maps.

The metric system map is hysterical.
I think it was either 4th or 5th grade (mid 70's) ... all of a sudden and completely out of the blue, the public school that I attended taught the metric system ... after that year it was never mentioned again.

According to the alcoholic's map of the world it looks like the alcohol consumption in England is off the charts ... right up there with Russia.

Them crazy drunk Brits ... Maybe they need a PSA:

I like the imperial system. The units are based on tangible things you can picture. Feet & cups are self explanatory, inches are based on the first thumb joint etc. It kind of makes it easier to envision ballpark measurements in your head. Who cares if they have to be converted when dealing with other countries? Come on, it's a coupla lines of code
