Hey, everyone. So, I just recently reinstalled my OS, Windows 7 64-bit. Music Creator 3 worked fine on it before- So I reinstalled it. I set my driver mode to MME, so it's fine, audio and MIDI play out.
 
Unfortunately, no amount of VST Plugging-in is giving me the ability to revive my use of VST Plugins! I've tried the VST Config Wizard many times in a row, and have gotten no progress. It DOES confirm that it adds all my instro's; however, when I enter MC, they're just aren't there!
 
I remember seeing a dialog in MC that listed ALL audio, dxi, midi, and vsti effects. It was wierd- I could install and uninstall at my lesiure. That was probably a week before the OS reinstallation. I have absolutely NO idea what dialog it was or how to get back to it.
 
Could somepne PLEASE help my cause? I'd be so grateful, as i have urgent matter that have to be done prior to this weekend.

Fixed. I had to run the VST Config Wiz in WinXP compatibility mode.

ok - thatnks for letting us know how you resolved it.  I was going to say that I didn't understand how you could have gotten it to work before because MC3 doesn't have a bitbridge and the VST's are all 32bit.  I am actually very surprised it works at all like that.

No problem. My instro's are just a mix... mainly 32-bit though.

I was wondering- after I reinstalled, what happend to all the effects under 'Project5'? I used them a lot, mainly the reverb. But I don't know where they are now, and I can't find them online! Any clue as to how I can get them back?

I've never had P5, but if the effects are DX effects, they won't work without running MC 3 in 32-bit emulation mode. May not work at all.

greg's correct.  32bit DX FX will not work at all on 64bit operating system and there's no "bit bridge" for DX.

Oh, Mine aren't DX, they're VSTi's. If I still sound stupid, PLEASE correct me- I know little-to-nothing about anything.
(I mainly say it becuase I have a strange feeling that DXi's and VSTi's are even more similar than I thought.)

it's actually pretty difficult to see the difference between DX and VST in MC without going into the plugin manager.  just by looking at the plugins, you can't really tell without a little hint:

when you right click in the FX bin, and choose AUDIO FX> then next menu that comes up will have PLUGIN MENUS at the top, then it will have a line separator, then a few plugins, then a line separator and then some more plugins.

the plugins at the top under the first line separator are DX, then ones after the last line separator are VSTs.

the other way to tell the difference is to open the PLUGIN MANAGER and it separates them out according to VST, VSTi, DX, DXi.

Ah, I suspected that was the case- they just smash DXi's right next to VSTi's with nothing but a little grey line between them. On a more technological scale, what really makes the difference between the two? Does one have advantages over the other? And if DXi's are better, where can I get more of them?

I also forgot to say, I never owned Project5 myself, but I'm assuming something I can install came with the plugins. I'll have to find that out, but in the mean time, I'll just be wondering what happened to SpectraFX, Project 5 plugins, and more....
