Okay guys (and gals) I took the new laptop to the church to try and record the sermon. I set up as I normally do, but no signal showing on MC4. I checked the record and playback timing masters which were correct. I seem to vaguely remember that you need the ASIO driver for MC4 to work. I do still have the ASIO drivers from Cubase se3 and wonder which of the two files in the folder are the correct ones. Dxfdsetup Wpsetup Also, which are the correct drivers, the USB audio codec. or the computer's audio drivers. The computer is a Lenovo 1066 laptop. The computer's audio drivers are Realtek HD Audio All other issues I believe are irrelevant as this is a leap above the Dell that I had before performance wise. (Love the Dell, but just simply ran out of disk space.) Any help is appreciated, thanks.

MC 4 should work with MME, WDM or ASIO drivers and possiby WASAPI. The driver mode relates to the sound card/audio interface; it has nothing to do with MC. Whatever drivers your sound card can use is what MC will use if you select it.
Very few stock computer sound cards use ASIO drivers, so try MME or WDM.

With the factory card, I would suspect that MME would be the driver of choice.

And Greg is absolutely correct in saying the driver is for the sound card not MC4.

Factory cards use the less able MME drivers and as you get into the better sound cards you will see that they require ASIO to function properly. Using the wrong driver with a card will result in less than optimal performance, or on some cases, no performance at all.
