I found some IR's I like. Is there any practical difference bet adjusting the amount of verb at the PS wet knob, the return bus volume slider, or for that matter, the amount of send?

No difference between using the Wet knob versus bus volume (assuming it's 100% wet, e.g. the Dry signal has been disabled).

Send amount can be slightly different, since you're adjusting how much signal is going INTO the reverb. Most of the time, there's no difference. But if you have a compressor in front of the reverb, which is commonly done, then you probably won't want to twiddle with the reverb send slider and use volume automation instead.

Personally, I use bus volume automation and leave PS' wet knob at 0dB. This gives me the option of automating reverb levels, which I do a lot. For example, I often pull the reverb back on the chorus. Or bring it way up on the last note in a vocal phrase, or the last note in the song.

Thanks. I never even thought of automating verb levels. I'll give it a try.

OK, so this is a totally newb question, but what is an IR and how does one use them with Perfect Space?

IR= impulse response- is a .wav file of a response curve from a given space. Such as a church, gym, stadium, room, and so on. I'll looked for "Impulse Response" and found this:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_response

Do a search for convolution reverb also. These will give you an idea what it's all about.

1)
Where do I find the impulse files that came with PS (X3)?
2)
How do I access them from PS
3)
Where are the presets?  Are they the same as impulse files?

I know these are rudimentary questions, but I am looking for a better convolution reverb than the one I am using.

Thanks.

As with any reverb, high pass and low pass the signal first before it hits the reverb (some do it after the reverb so you can try that as well) I usually set the high pass cutoff between 400-600Hz and the low pass cutoff somewhere around 10kHz although depending on the mix you could go higher or lower. As a general rule, the more low end you send to the reverb the muddier it's going to sound, which could mean bad news for a busy mix. But sometimes lots of low end sounds great, especially if it's a sparse synth part with a great hall reverb and little else in the mix to worry about.

Some reverbs have their own high pass and low pass controls. You can use either your own EQ before the reverb, or use the reverb's own EQ controls.

If you're using the reverb in stereo then also think about the width. You don't have to leave it at 100%, in fact many people like to "tuck in" the width of a stereo reverb so that it doesn't clutter the mix too much. Channel Tools can narrow and/or pan a stereo image, just insert it after the reverb.

They should be with the PS folder. Not sure if CW installs this along with the .dll in the VST forlder or not. I am in the middle of re-installing everything on my Home PC, so I can't look it up right now.

How do I access them from PS

If you look at the top left of the green colored screen, you will see a icon that looks like a sheet of paper with the top right of it folded over. Click that and it will open a window that you can then select a IR. From here you can also navigate to any other folder you want where you may have your own IR files stored.

Click the Preset name (to the right of the place I just told you about) and it should bring you to the presets.

Melda makes a very nice Convolution reverb.

Of course there is ReMatrix that comes with Splat. And the full version of it that is also a very good Convolution Reverb.

But Voxengo, the makers of Perfect Space has the full version called Pristine Space, but it's still 32 bit and Voxengo says it may not play well with a 64bit host.

Sorry it took so long to answer. Been working on this dang PC all weekend!!
