You guys must not be old enough to remember Tammy Faye Bakker.

Some of us are old enough to remember, and have spent our years repressing that memory.  Thanks a lot...

Ha! Ya, the "gurls" absolutely know how to apply makeup much better than the actual girls.

Absolutely. And I just realized I'm being one of those political incorrect heathens who ought to be sent away to a leper colony - I referred to my friend as a guy when she requested to be referred to as a girl. Oh and she's also not happy about old friends addressing her as "mate." I guess old habits die hard. I have to say, I find all this trans stuff quite confusing. Not from an old fuddy-duddy stick-in-the-mud conservative angle. I just find it complicated.

I forgot to add, another pet peeve is the cheesy Instagram filters they use to take selfies. On top of the inch of makeup removing any natural texture from their faces, the photo filters add another layer of smoothing which by the end of it all leaves them looking like a waxworks dummy.

The worst part of it all is that this makeup is covering up some truly beautiful faces. Take this for example:

I know it's all supposed to be subjective, but I'd have trouble identifying with anyone who finds the "after" face more attractive, lol.

For what it's worth (and it may not be much), I find both pictures attractive. Maybe it's the context? The "before" picture is a girl who would be at home doing normal day-to-day things like biking, going to the store (or maybe the beach), hanging out, etc. The "after" girl would be at home in a formal social setting, maybe attending a wedding or a orchestral concert.

Both pictures, I think, are very pretty, but I could see a difference in appropriate setting.

Meh. I've hung out with so many different kinds of people over the years that I've gotten the general sense, in pretty much most communities, don't be a jerk/make an effort to understand and you'll be fine. Terminology is secondary to that.

I'm sure the way I speak is archaic to the new breed of bleeding hearts but whatevs. They'll get over it... or they can politely correct me... or spazz the hell out and then feel embarassed when I school them in what it means to be truly tolerant (without being a pushover/self righteous posturing whiner).

I do need to say again though... meh.

It's 2018. These things should not be such a friggen' issue anymore... but they are... and it's wicked annoyering*.

+ a big 1. People really need to stop inventing things to get offended about.

Me too, I think they both look great.  Maybe I'm just not that picky any more.  They actually look like they could be sisters.

Some, too much; others, not enough.
The health and beauty department is right next to the garden center where I work. Aisles and aisles full of stuff to make women prettier, or so they think (and as the cosmetic companies want them to think).
I was surprised to see how much of it is stolen. These people will risk going to jail over a $2.98 stick of eye liner!

While walking by the sporting goods dept. a few weeks ago, a woman approached me about an air pump. She was buying one of those big exercise balls some folks use in their fitness regimes.
I showed her where they were and suggested the hand pump (looks like a big bicycle pump). She grabbed one of the electric ones instead, saying "that's too much work."

Edited: Not sure what a 'bicycle pimp' is.
           Definitely not Huggy Bear, though.
