Nope - the harmonies are rendered in the package. The recorded MIDI notes are just the actual notes you play. But it sounds great!

So if you freeze it or work with the audio you get what you want with all the harmonies.

But he does it all inside his software, so you can't record your performance just to get the MIDI harmony notes and then say copy those to another virtual instrument.

So glad we made it to 50% - I was really pleased with the instrument packages and regretted getting those.  Just hope I can find some time to get the arranger going.

Thanks for the shout outs - you're welcome.  Thought it was a good opportunity for those that missed his sale last year.

@yorolpal and @lawajava:  I'll bet putting Melodyne Editor on the generated harmony track would do a good job on converting the harmonies to midi...

That's what I was thinking too.
If I could use the feature & have the midi to use with other string libs I'd get it.
If anyone tries it report it here with your opinions.

Also how does this work & sound with more than 3 note chords?

Even the 5 part harmonies sounded great in the demos.

And thanks for the Melodyne suggestion @jerry.  I'll try that.

For what it's worth I emailed (Kirk, I guess) and he said no, it doesn't do that now...but he's looking into it.

That is one of the great things about Kirk Hunter Strings, and that is Kirk Hunter himself.  I have had to email him on a few occasions and he always, always, repeat always replies within a working day.  Excellent communication and help from Kirk.

Further, his Diamond and Concert Strings 2 and Concert Brass 2 are phenomenal libraries.  They more than meet my orchestra needs.  The only concern I have is that they hit the memory heavily; they require mucho memory in Kontakt.  But when you hear them, they are so real, so sweet, so divine.

cecelius2 - since you have the Concert Strings 2 - what's your interpretation of the benefit of Concert Strings 2 vs the Pop Strings set? I couldn't find any explanation or anything to motivate metro make the more expensive buy. Any tips on that?

To be honest, I do not own Pop/Rock strings.  So I can't really make that comparison.  What I can say is that Concert Strings 2 is much bigger at 18Gb, whereas Pop is 8Gb; the former is on sale for $399 and the later for $124.  Pop Strings seems to be marketed and perhaps designed to fit easily into a pop song or rock song.  I read somewhere and I can't recall where that Pop Strings is a "lite" version of Concert Strings, but that might not be fair and too simplistic.  Concert Strings 2 seems to be designed to be used to score or to produce a sound track or to do fuller or larger productions or used with Diamond for complete orchestra or symphonic productions in the more classical domain.  Concert Strings 2 is intensely memory demanding, and takes a while to load in Kontakt.  It is so big that even on a good system (see my specs below) it is not easy to run several other memory intensive programs or other sample libraries while using Concert Strings 2.  However, it does just about anything and everything you can need for strings.  It's size and setup does not really seem to be streamlined for pop or rock songs.  What I mean is that it is so big and so rich that it may not fit into the mix of a busy pop song or rock song the way that Pop Strings might.  Often with pop or rock mixes you do not want a big lush complex tonal Strings as that would muddy the mix.  When I use it in a mix, I tend to use a half division because the whole division just is too big if that makes sense.  However own its own, it is just beautiful.

I am rambling now.  So, again, to be honest I own Concert Strings 2, Concert Brass 2 and Diamond, but not Pop Strings.  BTW, the romantic solo violin in Diamond is just too beautiful to express in my words--it brings tears when I play it, but that is in Diamond.

Perhaps someone who owns both Concert Strings AND Pop Strings will add to this discussion.  Here is a link to the manual for Concert Strings 2 and it might give you something more to make a comparison with what you already have purchased and  own: http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/Concert_Strings_2_Manual_TVEC_4.pdf

I too have always been impressed by Kirk Hunter support.

Until recently.

Clicking on "Support" at his site now directs you to a KVR forum he has where...support, at least for me, has been virtually nil.  I'm still not up and running with Easy Arranger--despite several increasingly "whiny" posts there.  ;-)
