I have the Pop Strings now and really appreciate what it is capable of sounding like.
Since the sale is on now I have been mulling if there's enough perceptible difference with CS2 to be worth a bigger splurge.
I guess I'm satisfied enough with Pop Strings, but since I have been so impressed with it I still am curious about CS2 - at least for a few more days until the sale ends.
So last night I ended up playing with both CS2 and PRS... you piqued my curiosity!
I think that if you only write 4 part pop-rock-disco-R&B style stuff you are probably in great shape with PRS.
However, and this might be a big deal - it might not, what I discovered is that I started writing much more ambitious string charts after I picked up CS2. I use more articulations, and I use the 2nd chair sections instead of using divisi. It forces me to think more about the harmony, and for that alone I find CS2 to have been a worthwhile investment.
I won't say my string charts are better, but I will say they are headed in that direction...
