Hello Gents, 

The expiry date to claim my free AAS sound pack is in a few days, [Apr. 30], and for the life of me I just can't decide. 

Their demos are not much good - too short, and not enough variety.

I've listened to them again & again and I guess I'm just asking for some opinions on these.

Geez.. and as if going through this wasn't hard enough with the Alchemy packs just last month. 

Oh what a dilemma & such troubles in an otherwise perfect world, huh?

James - I went for Plastic Pop which I feel very satisfied with.

The surprise for me is that AAS includes with each of the choices a preview set from each of the packs overall. It's called Swatches. There are some great sounds in the Swatches samples - so you'll get that in addition to whichever set you choose.

I'm very glad Cakewalk arranged this for the Content Club. Great preview to another excellent provider of sounds. 

Yes, I have Swatches, and was previewing all the sounds in it with the included player.

I was initially going for the Plastic Pop, but then realized that I have enough synths with the older retro sounds in them already, hence adding to my dilemma. 

It was NOT an easy choice... and the AAS master plan probably worked, as I expect I'll be returning to purchase at least one more of their libraries!

But to answer the question, I narrowed it down to Journeys (VS-1) and Cinémathèque (VA-1) - based solely on the sounds. I just really liked the sounds in both these libraries, and could see myself using them in upcoming projects.

I ended up using the coupon to get Journeys because I can probably create many of the sounds in Cinémathèque myself, or at least I'll get close. Programming VS-1 remains a mystery to me, and I hope to learn some of the tricks by examining the patches.

I don't think one can make a bad choice though - it seems to me that AAS is very selective in the add-on libraries that they include on their site. It took me probably a dozen passes of listening to the demos to narrow the field to two, and then it was more-or-less a practical matter that made the choice for me<G>!

Now I just have to scrounge up $40 to pick up Cinémathèque - because in spite of my bravado above, I'm quite certain I'd learn a lot from studying those patches too!
