  • Spotify... what isn't on there? Besides The BEATLES..

I am going to start checking before I convert any CDs to MP3, I mean.. almost everything I put on my phone is available on Spotify. It is worth the 10 bucks a month, ata least to me.

So... I've found a very few albums and one song that isn't there. (besides the BEATLES catalog)
3 of 6 Monks of Doom albums are there.
Pink Floyd is there, but I didn't see "Relics" the last time I looked.
Lots of Uriah Heep but not my favorite Album, Salisbury. I think all the songs are there on collections and what not but there is only a lame "edited" version of the title track, "Salisbury".
All the SPIRIT albums seem to be there except for "Farther Along", may be others missing that I am not familiar with, but I like Farther Along.

I checked and there are loads of Mothers and Mothers of Invention. I didn't look for Hot Rats of FZ but I am sure they are there too.
I have not put any serious effort into seeing what is already available that I would have ripped but I am going to.

So, what (if anything) have you looked for and not found on Spotify? Also, I have not even looked at Pandora but I can't imagine there is anything there I would need between Spotify, Wolfgang's Vault, and some of my own albums/MP3s.

What else isn't there?
edit> PF Relics is there now... but I found something else that isn't. Early Amboy Dukes/Nugent... album with Papa's Will. Neither the album, "Survival of the Fittest" nor the song. Oh, and the Albert King CD I just got is there but without the extra tracks.

Beatles?  Are they a new group?

They were one of Michael Jackson's bands.

What is this Spotify and why would I need it?  $10 a month?  That's almost $120 a year...

Yes, it is 120 a year but, IMO, well worth it. They have almost every album that I want to listen to. They have a free with limits and ads, an unimited for 4.99 (I think) maybe still has ads, the Premium with unlimited and no ads. It just works, it plays whatever I want to listen to through a phone or MP3 online MP3 player. I like it a LOT, look it up.
I looked around and I think MOG is the closest thing but it costs about the same. I don't like the looks or PAndora or Rdio.

I'll just rip and add what they don't have. I just discovered that they don't have the self titled Humble Pie record, the one with the Japanese lady on the cover, will rip it... but they have naybe 20 other albums by HP. You can make playlists, listen to albums, or make a virtual radio station based on any song or artist. Yesterday I listened to the first two Fairport Convention albums, first time I have heard them... I write some similar stuff.

ok, so it's a streaming music site that you can add your own CDs to?  So why hasn't anyone added all the Beatles albums?

They're still waiting for Michael Jackson's OK.  It's been delayed for some reason...

I'm listening to the White Album on Grooveshark and saving up for my next microphone.

No no no non... It is a streaming music site at 320k. I add CDs/MP3s to the music player on my iPhone. I choose Spotify if I want to listen to most anything. I use Wolfgang's Vault for live recordings. the Vault has a LOT of concerts online from both Fillmore auditoriums, Winterland, and other venues... plus they own Daytrotter, and host all the Daytrotter sessions. DT is a indie studio in the midwest USA. Spotify is pretty cool IMO. A little more than the price of a meal each month for almost everything I want to hear, and in HI FI. I'm loving it. Listened to an old favorite from Spirit, Mellow Morning from the FEEDBACK album and Ian Matthews: Valley Hi album while working outside today.

I have a Youtube audio player APP too. Downloaded a 23 minute version of Papa's Will by Nugent and the Amboy Dukes to it... maybe tomorrow will listen to it. I also listened to most of Uriah Heep's Salisbury today while working. I got to the title track and knew I wouldn't have time to finish it so maybe tomorrow for it too. That album is SO good, it is their best work... progressive and jazzy... and heavy. Salisbury features a 24 piece orchestra, Mick Box, and Ken Hensley. If you aren't familiar with it, you should give a listen... it is GOOD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salisbury_(album)
