Hollow Sun have just launched a new series of inexpensive Kontakt libraries, "MUSIC LABORATORY MACHINES"
I shelled out my $12 and bought Oscillosine and Organa. At this price the full version of Kontakt is obviously needed.
Oscillosine is weird. There is a wide range of control using the various knobs, the scrip behind this must be quite complex and a whole range of weird and wonderful noises can be created. Some of the parameters are not immediately obvious to me and I am not sure how useful it will be yet, but there is certainly $8 worth of fun here, and possibly a good deal of inspiration.
Organa, an electric reed organ is only $4 and surprisingly good and quite musical, initial doodling indicates it's a good companion for Toontrack's Twisted EZX. I will certainly have a use for this one.

If you like the bonkers things Steve Howell is doing with Hollow Sun's MUSIC LABORATORY MACHINES you will be pleased to know that there are now two more.

BROKEN - Dying machinery in pain in a badly made case. $8
INTERFERENCE GENERATOR - Add vintage audio crud to your squeaky clean recordings. $4

These guys are hilarious. The graphic interface for Broken is worth the $8 by itself.

from the Broken details page:
watch out for the knob caps - they have tendency to fall off and re-arrange themselves every time you use the thing!

I downloaded a novel freebie recently, a sample set of dumpster sounds: beating on each part of a large dumpster with hammers and crowbars and such. Some interesting sounds in there.

The link above is a direct link to the rar file. Here's the proper page. There are some other oddball sample sets. The guy takes donations if you're so inclined.

Hollow Sun
Thanks for your kind comments, gents. Glad you like the new Music Laboratory Machines!

Bajan told me about this thread and although I'm not a Cakewalk user, I thought I'd drop in to say 'hello'. It's good to know my stuff is being used with it.

I've signed Bajan up for the HS newsletter (at his request) but if you want to be kept abreast of new developments, it's easy enough to sign up at my site.

There'll be plenty more bonkers MLMs to come with even more radical GUIs and even more retro, pre-synth noises from a past future that never happened.

On that note, I shall bow out as I shouldn't like to contravene this forum's advertising rules on my first post!

Just to say that it's nice to know my endeavours are appreciated.

Cheers,

Stephen
