Could be a language barrier thing but the way I understand this sentence is that it could change?

This isn't directed at anybody in particular either. First, IK is a privately owned company. No stock holders. iOs devices are growing at a rate no one predicted. Millions sold in the first 3 years alone. They are in no way going anywhere anytime soon. Even Microsoft has started to move into the mobile direction. @VintageVibe - Yes. @GuitarPima - There is definitely a new and improved GUI
Obi,

I REALLY don't think you understand what you've stated here...

IK is a privately owned company..NO STOCKHOLDERS.

This statement says this:

WE DON'T CARE THAT YOU BOUGHT OUR PRODUCT - YOU HAVE NO VESTED INTEREST IN WHAT WE DO, and
WE WILL DO AS WE DAMN WELL PLEASE.  YOU WILL GET SOMETHING WHEN WE SAY YOU WILL...NO SOONER!!!
WE ARE A PRIVATE COMPANY!!!

WOW....Now THAT is COMPLETELY LUDICROUS..and bad business...ALL IN ALL.

As for me....THAT IS THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF YOUR COMPANY.

We really don't care that you've gone after the iOS market...there's money to be made...we understand that...
but, as VV says, you've basically kicked those of us, who paid HUNDREDS of dollars for ST, and HUNDREDS MORE
for Libraries....RIGHT SQUARE IN THE TEETH!!!  ALL in favor of iApps....

THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!

AGAIN SAYING....YOU MUST DO WHAT WE WANT...YOU WILL GET WHAT WE GIVE YOU...WHEN WE GIVE IT...
AND YOU WILL COMPLY!  AND WE WILL DO AS WE PLEASE...NOW GO AWAY!

Not me buddy...I'm out...

@Rain, All of our release times can change. But this one is almost done and shouldn't be too much longer. At the latest we are looking at Q4, but possibly sooner...

Thanks. Q4 is actually pretty much what I thought I'd understood.

We are working on SampleTank 3, but releasing iOS apps with the same sample libraries from out other workstation libraries was an easy way to introduce the iOS world to what was really possible with their mobile devices. We even included some of the upcoming SampleTank 3 instruments in them to let you guys know we were working on them. Right now we are looking at releasing it this year, soon you'll see and understand why we've been working for so long on it. We have updated all of our other software to 64 but for free. We do our best to look out for our customers and our SampleTank fans will get the much asked for SampleTank love soon.

We have updated all of our other software to 64 but for free.

Yes, and only with this damn "Custom Shop" slammed in our faces.

I neither need nor want to install your "Custom Shop", my DAW doesn't need it.

Marketing gone NUTS !.

I'm always looking to find alternatives to IK now, trying to find how I can ditch the lot.
I feel I've completely lost faith in the company, and that the IK products I have today, may not work for me tomorrow. So I simply avoid using them at all now.

I haven't had TRacks for long, but now based on the "Custom Shop Nonsense", they will not be used in any new projects.

Tell that to your boss - they NEED to provide a sensible way to update, without being intrusive.

Cheers - Cliff

I have much the same attitude as Cliff - this custom shop nonsense has stopped me from upgrading much of my IK stuff - I have:-
1) Tracks - old version no longer even installed -
2) Amplitube 2 - installed and still working OK (but very rarely used)  but will not upgrade as far too confusing and I am somewhat concerned I will loose the settings I use now (Have heard about issues with custom shop authorising old modules)
3) Ampeg SVX - working but will not upgrade ( see above re custom shop)
4) SampleTank and derivatives such as SampleMoog / SampleTron -  I have these working on an older 32bit Computer then use them via Vienna Ensemble across the network  - this way they work perfectly - depending on cost I will possibly upgrade these so I can use them properly on my 64bit system, but I WILL not do so if it means using Custom Shop

Overall I have spent a not inconsiderable sum of money with IK Multimedia - as can be seen from the above list, unless they change their business practices, I can see no alternative but to stop using many of their products. Now this will PISS ME OFF as when I buy something, I feel I should be allowed to use it as I want to use it - also because as a very long term user (some of the first software I purchased) I LIKE their products, I used to like the Company and I would like to continue to LIKE the Company. But I'm sorry IKObi, you must take on board that IK have upset MANY of their original customers (without which you would not have been in business long enough to jump on the iCrap Bandwagon) and you need to LISTEN.
Now I normally charge for advice like this but you can have this for free:-
1) Make Custom Shop optional or better still do away with it! Come up with a Customer centric piece of software not a sales based, intrusive piece of software. We have to install this on OUR Computers.
2) Make Upgrading easier - even better put a real human being on call to deal with enquiries from older existing users so they know how best to upgrade what they have to the newer 64bit versions - this should be EASY to achieve as you have records through the authorization process of exactly what we own  - this  if done properly could be revenue generating
3) Just spend a little time sorting out what used to be your flagship product - SampleTank and all the derivatives - get it 64 bit and PLACATE all those older users who have spent considerable money on a product that is now a bit too flaky to use on 64bit machines without some workaround like the one I am using.

IKObi I hope you realise that I honestly do have a soft spot for IK Multimedia and REALLY want to continue to use their products. But there simply has to be a change of attitude from IK Multimedia - they DO NOT have to lose focus on their istuff products - just consider that to alienate existing customers is ALWAYS bad business practice - IT WILL COME BACK TO BITE THEM - it always does.

IKObi  I know you are in a somewhat difficult position as you are paid to promote their products, but it is getting to the point that you will be wasting your time on these sort of forums unless you can start to address real concerns that are getting aired every day - reading some of the posts on this thread alone should make your bosses very worried people - it is clear IK have deeply upset many people - you need to impress upon your bosses that the concerns often expressed here need to be tackled and tackled soon. For everyone who posts on forums such as these, there will be tens if not hundreds who can't be bothered to post but who in all likelihood hold the same views

IKObi I hope you can accept that this post was made in a postive effort to help you and IK Multimedia.

It is almost inevitable that touch and paddish computers will be the largest market share.  It was only a few years ago that laptops were looked down upon as production workstations.  You might have one for working while travelling or live, but you certianly had a desktop for real work.  Now, many just use a laptop.  Can someone tell me why pads won't follow the same trajectory?  Faster, smaller, solid state memory.  My wife's Ipad right now has more power and almost as much memory as my desktop from 8 years ago on which I did plenty of music.

Desktops will still rule for serious work, but the laptop will be replaced by the pad.  And that will be enough for most users, providing a huge market for cheap, single-use apps.  It is a lot easier to sell a hundred $3 apps than a single $300 program.  Hopefully, that will keep the money flowing so that the good developers can stay in business to sell their "real" program.  You need both in the brave new world coming.

Makes sense that the iOS version of ST would come first. After all, they could just port the ST2.5 UI directly to the iPhone's miniature screen without scaling.

Even I had to laugh at that. The Custom Shop has an offline authorization procedure for DAW machines that are offline.
