Hi there,

I bought Sample Logic's Cyclone, and I'm having a little trouble.

Just wondered if anyone else is having the same ?.
It's my first SampleLogic library, so maybe there's something I've stuffed up ?. But it seems like it should be so straight forward :-)

edit: Solved - updated kontakt 5.

Here's what's happened.

I downloaded (using SampleLogics special download installer thingy) to my "Online PC" that gets used for all that stuff - my DAW is usually kept offline.

Download completed fine.

Then as per the instructions, I transferred the CYCLONE folder to my the samples drive on my DAW.

Then, started Kontakt 5 Standalone, added the CYCLONE library, and activated it.
All appears fine ... have a quick play - all looking good.

Exit Kontakt and reopen ... the CYCLONE library has gone :-0(

I have to re-add the library every time I open Kontakt, which is no darn good at all !.

Anyone else experienced this ?.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers - Cliff

Don't quote me on this, but somewhere in the mists of my fallible memory I think I have heard of this before - it was cured by either doing the loading and authorisation in a host before using the standalone, or perhaps it was the other way round!
Sorry all a bit vague but was some time ago.
Hope this is of some help
Cheers

Hi Nigel,

thanks for that - It's usually "Run the Stand Alone first", is the mantra for all the NI and IK stuff too.

That's what I do, and it's what SampleLogic support came back with too.
Plus to run as administrator - which is exactly what I do.

I've never had trouble with an install like this, I believe because, I always run the standalone, and I'm administrator on the DAW anyway.

The strange thing is, that it authorized fine, and it works fine when I add it ... but it just never sticks.

So every time I open Kontakt, I have to re-add it (not re-auth it).

It seems to have SampleLogic stumped.

My guess is that their 'downloader' also does something else, and the downloader has not been run on the DAW because I did (as I always do) the download on my "Net PC".

I don't like having to install 'downloaders' and the like on my DAW - or tie it up for ages doing downloads - I don't believe there should be any reason that you have to.

Since their support has come back with the, "Run Stand Alone as Admin should fix it", and since it doesn't fix it, they're stumped at that level and escalating the issue.

My money's on 'the downloader does something under the covers', and has to be run on the DAW.

If that's the case, I would expect them to know that, and make it clear in the download & install instructions.

Interesting ... so I'll update when they get back to me :-0(

Thanks for the suggestion, report back soon (hopefully).

How strange - perhaps you might be right regards the downloader - have to say I do much the same as you - if its a big download I much prefer to do this on my net Computer - however there seems more and more Companies that want you to download direct onto the computer you are going to use the product on - I think I am right in saying XLN Audio (ADDictive Drums etc) require this now.
Anyway hope you get this sorted

All sorted, nothing to do with the installer.

Upgraded Kontakt 5 - was on 5.0.3.5812

Upgraded to the latest k5 5.1.0.6066 and it all seems fine now - face palm :-)
