Our cat is allergic to gluten and perhaps some other things. I was able to fix her with expensive grain free food. She eats some dry but mostly canned tuna with no fillers... but if she gets a bite of pork or steak... there is no word in the english language to describe the smell. Of course, being a cat it is always stealth gas... but when it hits the nose there is no mistaking it. It fills the room and I have to turn on the fan to the A/C unit to get the air moving. I thought dog gas was bad (and it is) but I don't know what could have worse gas than a cat. Perhaps an opossum..

Hmmm, hey Steve... is it proper english to use an "a" or "an" before opossum since the "o" is silent?? I am wanting to use proper english when I am righting.  Seriously, I am wondering...

A fair question to Steve, but based on an incorrect premise.  The "o" isn't silent but actually sounds an "a" as in "ah-possum" so, in either case, using "an" is appropriate because the sound is a vowel.

FWIW,
"possum" with out the "o" and pronounced with out the "(ə)" has been documented as a shortening of the word Opossum since the 17th century.

You can say "I just cooked up a possum" all you want and know one can seem any the wiser.

edit to add: I just learned that Opossum is an Algonquian word. Learn something new every day!

Somebody should make a thread requiring every post to speak King James. Like, add "-eth" to the end of every verb.

So that sentence would become "Somebody shouldeth maketh a thread requiringeth every post to speaketh King James."
