They say Samplitude has the best plugins of any DAW. Now we can try/buy them for ourselves.

Thanks for the info (already have a collection), I think Cakewalk needs to consider doing the same kind of thing.  I'd like to have VST versions of the Prochannel plugs available for other DAW software.

I've downloaded the trial of Samplitude Pro X Suite...
I wanted to check out Vandal...but..

After watching the Video, it's like X2 on Steroids...without the PC of course...
But they've taken the interface to new levels of awesomeness...
Will definitely check it out...

Ok...my initial impressions...

Interface....very nice.
Workflow...very similar to X2
Metering...better then X2
Vandal....not good...to be fair..I've barely used it but initial impressions...nope...
presets sound bad to me..

Haven't gotten into it really....will give more later...

Ok....did some more with it this morning...

Then uninstalled...

For a $1,000 program the answer is NO.

Wouldn't work at all with my Quad Capture Driver...
I have the same issue with ALL IK Stand Alones...

Every other stand alone that I own, GR5, EZ Keys, Addictive Keys, Addictive Drums, SSD, Toontrack Solo,.....every DAW, Cubase, Sonar, Studio One....everything works fine...

Just not IK or Samplitude...

That says something to me....how could ALL these other companies get it right...
and IK and Magix don't?

Anyways, I LOVED the Metering in Samplitude....the interface and skins were kewl...
other then that...NOPE..not for me...just MO...

Interesting to hear that the Quad Capture and Samplitude aren't playing nicely together.

I picked up a crossgrade deal for Samplitude Pro X at Florida Music Co. a couple of weeks ago for $250.00 or so.  I simply love it.  The interface is absolutely fantastic - especially if you work in the console view.  (Reminds me of SONAR 8.5 crossed with Reaper.)  And with the latest update last week, the support for the Mackie MCU and extenders is very powerful.

My Frontier Dakota drivers don't seem to have a problem with it though I could be a total opposite type of user than you.  I use mostly live instruments.

I got the new update right after I installed it.  I LOVED the interface...and the Metering is AMAZING.
If it would have worked with the QC...I'd probably have given it a better shake..

But the Magix Asio didn't work well...and the Cubase Generic Asio didn't work well...and the QC didn't work at all...
So I bowed out...
I wasn't at all impressed with the Vandal Amp Simulator either...when I got it to work..

But, to be fair, I didn't get to really do anything with it...other then fight to get it to work...

More info...

I went to use X2 and everytime it opened it crashed...

I said..hmmm...it didn't do that before I installed Samplitude...

So I checked my Uninstall program list and there were still
Some "left behind" Magix drivers and CD/DVD Burning things..

I uninstalled them and LO AND BEHOLD...Sonar opened perfectly..

I find that quite odd....
But situation solved anyways...

Hey, thanks for all that info. I think it's great that these experiences are shared; may save others a lot of hassle ...

I've become very cautious as regards installing anything I wouldn't need on the DAW, especially free trials. In fact I had a similar problem with the licensed version of Acronis that some how got corrupted and messed with the drives, causing Sonar to crash when using Kontakt 5 stuff. I have no clue how the Acronis version got messed up, but I only found out by coincidence and was very happy that this cured Sonar stability issues ...

For trials I now use a separate (older) PC; it might not be the best way to try new stuff but I stay on the safe side ...

FYI, I have a Quad Capture and Samplitude ASIO works fine with it when it's plugged into a USB2 port. The only time I had a problem was when I plugged the QC into one of the 'fake' USB3 ports that require a driver. The computer is just a stock i5 kit from Newegg. EDIT: Actually, I'm not at the DAW right now but I seem to recall that there is a selectable driver named something like 'Samplitude ASIO'. I'm not using that one. I'm using the Quad Capture's ASIO driver.
