said I was done and would wait for whatever but...I lied and gave it another try.
Stretched out a .wav drum clip for 16 bars.
Recorded a backing guitar track, a bass part and a slide lead part. Guitar Rig 5 on all tracks plus another track so I could just play along.
Had Omnisphere, Trillian and Stylus in project and working although none were being used. I did use each one, one at a time and all three together while all the other tracks were playing just to see if Sonar would hold it together and it did with no issues. That was a first too.
I couldn't believe it...It made it farther than it had ever made it with not one issue. No busses was the only difference that I'm aware of.....oh, Guitar Rig 5 instead of 4. (everything 64 bit except the .wav drum clips.)
So I decided to put some .wav drum fills in before moving onto the next section of the tune.
Grabbed a .wav drum clip and started dragging and Sonar crashed...except this time I had the PC on-line so it could send in the report. It did.
So...at least the report part is working now and it didn't crash the PC and when I reopened the project there was nothing "wrong".
Well it's the first time it's crashed by dragging a clip and the first time it just crashed itself, filed a report and closed with no hassles...so that's an improvement...I guess. ( and I didn't cuss, get angry or throw my PC in the trash...that is a major improvement. At least I don't have to reload another PC to try for round two.)
