Hi - I have a Yamaha DGX-305 midi keyboard and am trying to connect it up to MC5 using MC5 Cakewalk Sound Centre soft synths to record drums, base etc. I'm using a Windows XP Professional PC with a Delta 1010LT soundcard that has a standard hi-fi connected to the audio output cables of the 1010LT soundcard for audio. When I play the keyboard there is a delay of around half a second before I hear it on the hi-fi speakers. Is there a way to get rid of this latency? Obviously it's hard to record new stuff in time with previously recorded tracks if I can't play it at the same time I hear it, if that makes sense? Regards, Steve.

in MC5, change your driver mode to ASIO.

OPTIONS>AUDIO>DRIVER MODE = ASIO

click APPLY and OK

if that doesn't resolve it enough, you'll need to go into the m-audio software and reduce the HARDWARE BUFFERS to 64 or 128.

Thanks Beagle, that worked perfectly (the ASIO drivers). Is there any MC documentation on the website here that covers settings and features in more detail than the getting started guide that comes with the package?

ASIO drivers...and maybe experiment a bit with the buffers and latency settings. The goal is to get the settings to the optimal place where everything works like you need for most of the work you do.
