The Cakewalk command center shows my Sonar Platinum is version 2017.10 (23.10.0.14). Plus I have at least 10 other products in the list several of which I paid for separately.

So Gibson should at least be required to mail me a Full Installation CD for my investment $$$ and loyalty to Cakewalk. This may solve the problem for when you need a fresh installation on a new PC.  In addition, Gibson could maintain the Cakewalk website and Command Center for customers who have a paid account.  I'm sure they can afford to maintain the website at the very least.

Why can't you download and burn it to CD/DVD's?

You do realise the real issue is that later it may be impossible to activate, or Sonar may even deactivate itself at some stage. Apparently they are working on that (I wish they would hurry up).

I'm not sure why you think loyalty is a thing nowadays.

There are about 30 threads with sort of the same title and just as Alex has said you can easily download and backup up all your files. There are dozens of threads for the last month telling you how to do this so I won't go into it again. Scan page 1,2 and 3.
it's your responsibility to back up all your software, it's not the responsibility of the vendor.

And a CD is a krapppy way to store data, there's a thread about that too. Data is to easily lost on a Burned disk. Buy a 32GB USB stick for $12.. buy 3 of them if your smart. Are you going to trust a 30 cent DVD with $1,000 worth of data?

I'm afraid at this point in time Gibson owes us nothing. Business is Business. We still have Sonar it just won't get the bug fixes it sorely needs. SO go to your My Product page and start downloading and back it up 3x.

<Rant on>

Man... Cakewalkers are losing their livelyhood, and we have entitled people who lack the common sense to download files and make their own backups coming on here whining incessantly about what Gibson owes them. Me, me, me... Grow up and learn to deal with your first world problems.

I used Cakewalk for about 25 years and they sent me new versions on CD/DVD for installation over 22 years.  I agree that it's our responsibility to backup our music files and projects which is our creations.

However, Sonar Platinum DAW files is Cakewalk's creation and this includes a sophisticated installation process that changes the Windows Registry, Configuration and so much more.  When you download from Cakewalk, are you getting the full installation executable?  If yes, then that should be fine to make an installation CD/DVD.

 The Cakewalk company is shut down and there is no personnel left to make the installation CD's anyway.

Yes.

It is fine then.

What's with the sense of entitlement? Why should anyone be required to send you an installation disk? Were you promised one when you purchased or did you purchase downloadable software which you can still download and use to burn your own disk?

It's called an installer :) Installation system is virtually no different to previous versions of Sonar. CCC just makes it convenient to download and activate. Back up your downloads folder.
