If you have clear skies go out and take a look. It will be tracking from near Atlanta to almost right over NYC but you shuld be able to see it from most anywhere in the east or NE... about 10 minutes.
My favorite iPhone APP is ISS Spotter. We saw it last night but it is too cloudy here tonight.
It is about the size of a football field, travels 9x faster than a bullet, circles the globe about every 95 minutes... go out and look, here it will be at about a 70 degree angle. IT will be the brightest thing in the sky.

Get ISS Spotter. It is free and cool... go look!

It is still over the pacific, approaching Acapulco but it will be here in 4 minutes. Last night we saw it at 9:48. I checked it's position at 10:45, it was south of Australia... it really is amazing.

Is over Mexico now, going between Atlanta and Macon, just west of Charlotte, just west of Richmond, almost over D.C., right over New JErsey and NYC, east of Vermont and Maine. Already halfway over the gulf of Mexico as I typed this... will go just east of New Orleans... like now.

Darn I missed it. It started raining again this evening so I guess I would have missed it anyways.

Ok you got me excited. Why is it so bright?

I'll be out there tomorrow.

best regards,
mike

Does anyone mind if I'm a little pedantic for a moment?

Why do people refer to it as 'flying' overhead, when technically it is falling?  (but with style...)

I try to catch it from time to time as well as the Iridium satellites when they are all -3 or better in brightness.

The best ISS viewing I ever saw was when I was on vacation and it was directly overhead..... went from horizion to horizon and was -6 ....very bright and very impressive.  That's been the best sighting on the ISS so far...... I've also seen some impressive Iridium flares.

I use the android ISS DETECTOR app... it's also free, and it has a count down to the event.... and a compass with an alarm beeper to let you know when something is happening "now"...
