I just noticed a couple of more thing that are in Komplete 9 that are not in 8.

Traktor's 12 - some GR5 effects aimed at EDM producers and DJ. Some of the effects could have uses in other musical styles but its not something that would tip the balance for me.

The Giant -That has got me a little more interested for sure. A  piano sufficiently different to be interesting, but sufficiently conventional to be used a lot.

I got "The Mouth" with Komplete 8 but I can's see it in Komplete 9, but I think it was thrown in as a special for a limited time.

Tracktor's 12 was in Komplete 7, as I have it with that package. Those effects are pretty interesting, but no one seems to talk about them.

It's also way easier to set up multi-outs in Battery than it is in Kontakt IMO.

I think everything regarding drums is easier in Kontakt.

On the odd occasion I want to make my own drum setups I use Kontakt, if you are a lot more familiar with Kontakt than Battery what are the advantages of using Battery, is it just the work flow and interface?

As a keyboard player I certainly find mapping the sounds to keys in Kontakt more logical than the drum machine pad layout of battery.

I find that the Battery's ability to hit any pad (edrums)  or key (keyboard) and instantly learn/map that note is huge.  I can EASILY set up a kit with any sound on any drum to play in real time.  Kontakt can not do that as EASILY or QUICKLY - you have to go into all those messy edit pages.   This is huge for e-drums but even on a keyboard if I want to play a percussion kit make from tablas, congas, marching bass drum and kitchen sink I can in seconds have a kit assigning to adjacent keys in a convenient real-time playing order.  Also the visual of having all the sounds laid out in front of me with NAMES on each pad is great.  I actually hate using Kontakt for drums and never use my NI Abby Road stuff for that reason.
You can also click learn and hit a pad in Kontakt and set-up NI Abbey Road this way. Not that difficult to accomplish. The better way (for me at least) is to use drum maps. When recording e-drum MIDI notes I just swap the drum maps and can play back the drums either using the original external drum module or NI Abbey Road.

As regards multi-out I can't understand complaints I read that it'd be difficult to set up. As with any software that comes with a zillion options, you need to find the right page where you do the routing. Then it's only setting up a smart template once and you're good to go for many projects.

Let me know if you need help. We had a separate thread on the NI Abbey Road via e-drums in the software forum. Apart from cymbal choking everything is functional.
