Has anyone compared these two against each other? I know the Cakewalk version has the screw, I don't think Ik multimedia's version does. I'm liking T-racks shell and being able to use each processor as a separate vst. With Cakewalk you have the Pro channel of course. I think there is about a $50 difference in price.

I have both but have not played much with either. About all I can add is that the New Cakewalk CA-2A T-Type is now VST or AU compatible with any DAW. No longer locked into the Pro channel but can still be used there.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Kind regards,
Rick

No brainer! CA-2A sounds amazing VS IK sounds good..
Go for CA-2A. One of the best LA plugins I have heard so far.

Haven't tried the CA-2A, I'd love to hear a shootout with someone who owns both...

I have not bought the IK white plugin but I have check out the demo and compaired both of them and other LA plugins.
IK white is also one of the best LA emulations out there. Same class as UAD, WAVES & NI Softtube. But I feel the CA-2A is one lever above both WAVES, UAD, IK and Softubes. And when it comes to functionallity, sidechain, fully modeled "R37" HF Pre-emphasis control, dual photocell reset modes (Classic & Fast Reset) no one beats it. Its the best sounding and versatil LA out there on the market right now. Sidechain I love it!

Is there a CA-2A demo? I could test it against IK's and Waves (which also has RC37 but no side-chain option).

I used to have an old Roland VS2400 and had a Universal Audio LA2A and 1176 plugin. Those were great. I see a benefit in both the Cakewalk and Ik multimedia versions. On one hand I have X2, so with Cakewalk I have the VST and pro channel module. On the other hand, I have T-racks, so I could use the VST or I could use it in the T-racks shell. I have to wait awhile anyway (because I have spent way too much money), but I will need to do one or the other at some point. Bootsie's Thrillseeker LA will have to get me by for awhile.

I believe Kev West has both and made a YouTube video. I've PMd him to double check and see...

Here you go.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RkQxh2DZvc The sound of the two are very similar. The Cakewalk version has the screw which is supposed to act as a HPF if I remember right the IK doesn't have that. Other than that the sound is about the same.
