The Maillard Reaction
Hi Michael,
I stumbled on something in Pro Tools 11 native yesterday and I think you'll want to know about it.

There is no input echo during playback... just during record. That means you can't jam a guitar sim along with playback through the DAW the way you can with just about any other DAW.

You can hear it when you are paused but not when you are playing back. You have to record the pass even if you are just trying to practice or jam out.

The feature IS included in the big boy package but not in the "native" package.

 Go figure.

 Thought you should know.

I recently played guitars & keys on a couple of sessions at a well known studio in northwest Florida... they use PT11, and I was not at all impressed with the so-called "industry standard"... I was, however, very impressed with the free lunch...

I recently worked with a well known stills photographer in Northwest Florida who, 1/2 way through the day, told me he bought his first stills camera 9 months ago.

I too enjoyed a free lunch.

:-)

Pro Tools 11 has only been out a month. I imagine that there are a lot of established studios that have tons of stuff that doesn't work with it yet.

I've found that I am having loads of fun multi tracking my drums with it.

Thanks Mike.

I mentioned that I think they are on a great road now. I don't think it's good now but will be great
if they work some things out. That's a biggy you mentioned but there are many others too.

From the little I've spent reading at numerous forums people are faced with many issues everywhere.

I've no idea what I'm going to do. Not really worried about it though. I can still play my guitar!

It seems that way with everything. Every time I need to buy something and read some reviews I get the impression that everything is hopelessly flawed. A while back it took me forever just to find a new coffeemaker to buy.

When you don't know the people, you have to spend ridiculous amounts of time figuring out which viewpoints are worthwhile and who to ignore for one reason or another.

Aren't you glad you didn't plug the coffeemaker in and find out it wasn't compatible with your fridge and stove and that they are now worthless?

Maybe one can get a coffeemaker warranty....you call and somebody you can't understand from the other side of the planet reads instructions to you while you fix it but it still won't be compatible with the fridge and stove.
Did your coffeemaker require you to purchase an ilok so if you go to the neighbors and use their electricity it will still work?
Will you have to pay for an upgrade to make 10 cups rather than 4 even though the pot will hold 12?
Did you find out that it really isn't your coffeemaker? You just paid to use it and there is no warranty and no it won't work for anybody else but you...even though it doesn't work for you.
Have you heard the commercials that maybe in the future you won't have to buy one for $50.00 and not own it because you'll be able to rent it by the month until it breaks or you get tired of not being able to use your fridge or stove.
Did you find out that even though most everybody uses power from the power company that you need to call so and so because he knows how to make that power to it work even though you thought it was plug and play LOL.   minimum 120 volt requirement didn't mean squat...LOL..

Did you have to join the coffeemakers forum and sift through endless suggestions of why it's not working for you but is fine for everybody else?

Are you ready for sun tea?

I don't even know what sun tea is.

But the only real problem I've had with the coffeemaker is once when I put water in it but forgot the coffee. Oops.

Hey Spacey (and Drew)

I figured out I am an idiot. Or sumthin.

Anyways, I watched a Lynda.com video and figured out what button to press.

The ironic thing is that I read someone saying it didn't work on a forum... and then not knowing much I thought I experienced it not working... which is wasn't... but I got it working by figuring out the setting.

I turned auto input monitoring off and now it works.

Sorry to have created confusion.

:-S

The great thing is that I saw some benefits to the way it was working and so now I have both.

Well I wasn't going to argue...I watched the video which showed
much more than just that working.

But when one reads...everything changes.

Man! Drew, sun tea is great stuff. I use to take mint growing in my yard and
pick up a bunch and put it in a gallon glass jar and set it in the sun. Mint sun tea and
good stuff. Try it.

That just shows our ol pal Drew is not a southerner.  I (and I expect Michael too) grew up on sun tea.  Mmmmm, good.
